It might work, but it may not stretch more than a couple of inches. Is the sweater labeled washable? Otherwise, the water might make it shrink and/or the color (dye) to run/fade/bleed. On the other hand, if you're not wearing the sweater at all, and you're willing to risk the damage, go for it. With success, you'll have a very wearable garment and a cute look.

It's supposed to be dry cleaned, which I actually just had done, but I don't think water would hurt it. I've had it forever. I don't wear it that much so like you said, I'm willing to risk whatever happens to it. Thanks :-)

Want to 'unshrink' a wool sweater?

Gently boil the sweater in a solution of 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water. Gently boil 30 minutes. Rinse with cool water and squeeze out excess. Dry flat. Despite the horrible smell while cooking, it works!
