well forget this thread. miele just told me little giant vented no longer for sale in USA.

They had full USA sized front load washers and matching electric and gas, vented full sized dryers for years. If they sold well, I'm sure they'd still be available today.

What's with so many companies discontinuing their 24" vented dryers? That's not happening with 27" units where condensation (ductless) dryers aren't even available. What gives?

People usually only put in compact sets when there are serious space constraints, and in those cases there often aren't provisions for venting. My guess is that although 27" vented dryers are the most popular overall in North America, 24" ventless dryers significantly outsold vented ones.

Europe is moving away from vented dryers in favor of energy- saving heat pump dryers. Some countries have already outlawed anything but heat pump dryers over here. Go to Miele's German home page, or Bosch, or Electrolux... you won't find more than one or two vented models, a few condensation models... and an abundance of heat pump units.

With no more vented or air condensing dryers being made, there's nothing to ship to the US.
