what size dryer?

Posted by afruscione (My Page) on

Hello,
I a going to buy a Bosch Axxis compact washing machine and I am now wondering what dryer to pair it with.
I am not thrilled by the reviews of the Axxis dryer (I want a sensor drying system!) but especially I am worried that a small dryer will not dry my clothes well since they do not have enough space to fluff around.
Any thoughts on that? Anyone else has a compact washer and a bigger dryer?
Thanks!

RE: what size dryer?

The general guideline is the dryer should be twice the capacity of the washer so for instance, a 3.0 cf washer should have a minimum dryer capacity of 6.0 cf paired with it while a 3.5 cf washer should have a minimum of 7.0 cf dryer for optimal drying. Ironically some of the big machines pair smaller dryers than what's available elsewhere. The Oasis/Cabrio/Bravos used to only use about a 7.0 to 7.2 cf dryer.

After suffering with an undersized dryer for years, I bought a big one this last time and don't regret it one bit. I almost bought a 6.5 cf unit to save a few dollars but I'm glad I came to my senses and got the 7.4 cf one.

Dryers don't have to be expensive either, unless you're hung up on looks.
