Which W/D set for my 33' deep closet?

Here is a picture of the current setup. Yes it is ugly, it is a laundry closet that we have not yet renovated.. It is hard to take a picture of the whole thing since the closet fronts a 3" wide hallway.

The dryer is on the left and the top load washer is on the right. To the left of the dryer is a laundry sink. THe washer and dryer pair measure 54" in width when pushed together, The dryer is pulled as far forward as possible due to the vent in the back (33.5" when the door handle is included).

I'd like to get both front loaders, preferably steam, but I am worried about the swing opening of the washer against the closet door. Right now, the right end of the washer extends 6" beyond the open closet door.

Can you all recommend a good sized washer and dryer that can fit in this closet? Steam is an option as well.

Wow .... OK.... i would make a mental not to buy a house from that builder ..... that's a crazy layout. I find it hard to believe a front loader will fit in the present washer position (on the right).

We have a similar layout behind 3 sliding doors (washing basin on the left, then washer, then dryer). We put in a Sears Kenmore elite washer (based on the Samsung 218). I believe we have a depth of about 33". We didn't have the spare cash for the dryer now ... but 33" looks tight for those models.

I will get an accurate measurement on the washer depth. Can you swap out the basin for one that is narrower and gain 6 or 8 inches??? Or maybe put in a stacking washer dryer unit instead???

Would it be possible for you to take down the folding doors and install sliding doors, which slide into the wall? That would give you more depth. (The doors would need to have vents in them.)

Maybe you could change to a a stacked front-load washer and dryer so both doors could open easily and fully - plus there would be room left over to the right of the machines to hang clothes, use for a fold-out ironing table, or for storage shelving.

Electrolux washers are huge and have reversible doors, if that helps, although I don't know off hand if they are shallow enough. Some Frigidaire and Kenmore 27"w machines are unusually shallow front to back, although they also have a bit less capacity.
