Cheer Bright Clean Powder Questions

Posted by happymomof2kids (My Page) on

I have read in a few posts that the Cheer bright clean powder is low sudsing. Did someone do a suds test on it? I had heard rumors that Cheer was suppose to come out with an HE powder but haven't seen it yet.

I use to love Cheer powder back when I had my old reg top loader. It cost less than Tide, didn't have as strong of a smell and did a fab job on washing.

It would be great if I could start using it again, but there is no point in me buying it if it's not low sudsing and my washer is already unforgiving at times when it comes to rinses. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Ive used Cheer powder on occasion. I like it. Yes, it's low sudsing, rinses out quite well. It's the only product in the Cheer line that contains no optical brighteners, making it useful for dark coloured fabrics. I would start with no more than a couple of tablespoons and work your way up. YMMV. I've had good luck with up to the first line on the dirtier loads in my notorious for oversudsing Bosch, and still rinsed clean.

Todd,

Thank you sooooo much. I will go out and buy a small box tomorrow and give it a go. If it works out, I will be so happy. Now I'm excited. LOL!

Heidi another detergent you might want to try is Bold Plus.
I have been using it for a while now and I really like it.
It says it helps keep cotton clothes soft and it really does.
I have an LG HE FL machine and I have had no sudsing or rinsing issues with Bold even though it's not labeled as HE.
The old Bold detergent used to have fabric softener in it, but there is no where on this box that says anything about having FS in it.

I also have used the new Cheer Bright & Clean powder and liked it too.

Janet,

Thank you so much for the feed back on cheer and bold. I really appreciate the link too. It looks like I can order the bold and have it shipped to me. I haven't seen that brand in a long time. It was popular back in the 80's and then all of a sudden vanished. I remember I loved the smell when I put my nose to the box when I was a kid, but my mom would never buy it. She was and still is a loyal Tide user.

Janet,

Do you have a Lowe's near you? I have seen it stocked on the shelves there. You might call ahead and see if your local Lowe's carries the Bold detergent. This might save you on shipping costs if your local Lowe's happens to have it.

Yes there is a Lowe's not too far away as well as Meijer, though I have never looked there for it.
I actually found it at our Jewel grocery store and I am thinking I also saw it at Hy-Vee.
But thanks for letting me know about Lowe's, I'll look for it next time I'm there.

Awesome! Glad you can find it in your town. In my town I have only seen it at Lowe's. But then again, I haven't really been on a huge search for it as I have a very well stocked laundry cabinet and won't be purchasing laundry soap for about the next 5 years. (I loaded up on various detergents due to sales and coupons, and then as soon as I loaded up, I won a laundry sweepstakes and got all kinds of Gain detergent and other goodies) Needless to say, our laundry cupboard in the garage looks more like a grocery store laundry isle. LOL

RE: Cheer Bright Clean Powder Questions

Ok, picked up some of the Cheer Bright Clean Powder yesturday. Just tried it on a load of clothes.

I washed a large load of colors with a little less that a 1/4 of a cup. I would have only used 1 or 2 tbls, but some of the articles were soiled and I wanted to push the boundary a little. In the final spin there were suds on my window about the size of my hand. Is that good or bad for a non HE detergent?
