So sad I have to replace my washer

My 10 year old Maytag need replacing -- at least according to the repair people (over the phone). It sounds like a jet engine during the spin cycle -- repair place says it is probably the bearings and no worth fixing.

Our the "appliance guy" on our local radio often talks about how he detests front loaders (for their various issues) and HE agitator-less machines because they flat out do not get your clothes clean.

I have found to "cheapy" machines that still have agitators that I am considering:

GE GTWN4250DWS and Whirlpool WTW4800BQ

The GE is HE but can be over-ridden and select your own water level. It is a little bigger drum than the Whirlpool which is nice. I can't go too big though because I am keeping my "normal" 10 year old dryer.

The Whirlpool is simple traditional machine. Wish the drum was bigger and also has that annoying lid lock feature.

Any advice as to the better machine?
