| I've just bought a new/old house and need a new washer and dryer, but with all the other expenses piling up, I'd like to keep to under around $1000 or less for the pair. (I'm thinking if I can pick something that usually retails in the $500-600 range, I might be able to get a deal for a bit less in the summer sales.) I don't want or need too many bells and whistles; I prefer simple dials to complicated electronics. I would like to be able to wash and dry my giant comforter, but I don't have a big family's clothes to look after. I need side-by-side rather than stacking, but could do front- or top-loading. And I would REALLY like to be able to make this decision without a lot of agonizing over it!

| We bought an LG FL washer/dryer pair for $1K last year on a black Friday special at Best Buy. The washer is WM2301, a simple machine but it has large capacity (4.2 cf - I haven't washed a comforter in it but it handles our thick king size mattress pad with no issues). The washer also has an internal heater which was really important to me, but no other fancy features which I don't need. So far, I have been very pleased with this washer and dryer and can definitely recommend it. |
