My mother's machine has begun making an extremely loud siren-like screech just before a rinse cycle. I had a tech diagnose it and he said it was a bad transmission and/or seal. He said that since the tub does not stop rotating when the timer is pushed (to off) it is a sign that the electric brake is bad and the transmission is therefore bad. This is a stacked all-in-one unit and I am looking for some alternative explanation/fix. The model number is GLGT1142C; Laundry Center, new in 2003-2004. Thanks for any advice!
