Larsi..questions about products used in Electrolux

Larsi, I haven't recieved my replacement set yet. I called Lowes today to see about them. He told me that one of them was on back order but thought they should be coming. Who knows. He could have told me it was on a back order. Anyway, i wanted to ask you what other products you use in your washer. Vinegar? Baking Soda? Oxyclean? I know you use persil and sears detergent. I got some sears to try. The reason i ask you this is that i called Electrolux today to ask a couple questions, and asked about using Affresh. They said they had not tested it so did not recommend. To do bleach in clean cycle. Also did not recommend vinegar, or baking soda, or dryer sheets or constant use of fabric softner. Did say if i used fabric softner a lot then to do the clean cycle once a month. Said dryer sheets mess with the sensors in dryer, and no to using dryer bars that stick to sides. I think all companies will not say it's ok to use something, so i am wondering what all you use for whites and towels. What works well in the Wave to keep them white and the towels smelling fresh and being soft?

RE: Larsi..questions about products used in Electrolux

Hi Roseark,

Lowes is backordered on almost all appliances. Over the years, we have bought a few major appliances from Lowes, and the item is never in stock, and then it is backordered. Sears might not have the best prices all the time, but they seem to keep most things stocked & ready for next day delivery! I like Sears!

Using vinegar in the washing machine has been greatly debated. I was told by a Miele Senior Technician & Field Manager that white distilled vinegar is bad for seals, hoses and rubber parts. I trust this person, and there are also quite a few on our Board, that will agree that vinegar is not the best for the machines! Also, vinegar is pretty good for removing detergent residue, but it has NO softening capabilities. Do not believe those who say vinegar is a natural fabric softener. Rubbish!

I have used liquid Downy softener in EVERY one of my Miele washers for the past 15 years, and before that in my bottom of the line Frigidaire front loader. I have NEVER had build up, mold, musty odors, greasy clothes, coated clothes, etc.. I swear by and love Downy April Fresh softener. I use it on EVERY load in my Electrolux, and it is fine (as it was for over 15 years in my Mieles)!!

For once a month deep cleaning I use either an Affresh tablet, Tide washing machine cleaner or liquid bleach.

I HATE dryer sheets and never use them. Yes, they can play games with the moisture sensors and on the Miele units..they stick to the air intake and can overheat the machine.

I used the Bounce Dryer bar in my Miele T9800 for over a year and loved it, and I installed one the VERY day my Electrolux Wave Touch was installed. I do not find it to have softening properties (well not that much), but it is great for static and a light and clean smell. Love the Bounce dryer bar.

For whites and white towels I use the Whitest White setting on the wave touch and Persil Universal Powder or Persil Universal Gel. No need for liquid bleach.

Let us know when your units arrive!!

RE: Vinegar

Vinegar! I think vinegar is what took out my LG washer in only 2 years, 2 months of its short life. I don't use it in my Speed Queen. And I don't miss it one bit.

I was going to try the vinegar, but am glad i called electrolux and that you guys wrote in. I got to try the Sears detergent yesterday, and i really like it. My clothes had a fresh smell, no strong perfumey smell at all. I only used 1 TBL, but i may need to add a little more. I will just have to do trial and error to get the right amount. I did tear my bounce sheet into 3rds. I may try the dryer bar, but doesn't it also put a film on the sensors since it gets on the clothes? I have been wiping the sensors after every other load, so it is still a little confusing. I haven't really found any fabric softener that i like the smell of. I have tried Gain and mixed it with water in the dispensor, but didn't care for the smell. I know i could probably get a softener that is fragrance free, but i do like the smell of bounce when i don't use a whole sheet. Also Larsi, do you wash your sheets on the heavy duty setting since it has no bedding option? Also i have a queen bed, i put all the sheets in plus a couple towels to help the tumble. It seems like it is not enough in there, but i don't like to do towels on anything other than sanitize. How many sheets do you put in yours? Also, how many of the bath towels? I have the thicker ones and always worry about over loading. I usually do towels and wash cloths together, with some kitchen towels. I put 4 bath towels, 4-5 wash cloths,4-5 kitchen towels and wash cloths, and i worry if thats too many. Thanks for all the info. We had a bad experience at Sears once and the manager was a d---! Bought a set from Best Buy and they crossed threaded my hoses and our floor got flooded before we could pull the set out to get to the turn-off. They didn't care at all. Spoke to management, then corporate. Did nada about it, so i told them to come pick them up. I haven't had to wait for an order from lowes before. When i tried the IQ touch, it came the next day.I think everybody's stock is low due to the rebate. Millions bought appliances. I never could get through to get or reserve a rebate, and it just chaps my you know what!! i know i am probably being over cautious with this front loader, but it's a lota bucks and i can't buy one every couple years. Hope it comes by sat.
