Maytag LDE510 shuts off when hot

Our Maytag LDE 510 electric dryer works fine when started from a cold start. After a few loads (or sometimes on the very first load) it will shut off before reaching the end of the cycle. My wife says the clothes are quite dry when that happens.

I have opened it up and checked both thermal switches. I only checked them at room temperature and they were closed as expected. I did not do a test at the high temp limit.

Could it be that one or both of the thermal switches is failed and they are opening at normal dryer temp (lower than the thermal limit) and then not closing until they cool way down? I guess I could remove them and test them by heating them in an oven.

I have also read that a buildup of lint around the motor and cause them to shutoff due to overheating. Is there a separate thermal shut built into the motor?

Thanks!
