The way we do it is get a leave blower and blow the lint out from the inside before connecting the dryer.If you have some sort of damper or bird cage attached, then it will be more difficult to clean.

You need a secondary lint trap that is installed in the laundry room. It is mounted at eye level some you can see in the door to clean it out. I know you can find it locally it you can see one. Here is an example of one.
