Building Pedestals for Miele W1215 & T1415

I'm buying a Miele W1215 washer and a Miele T1415 dryer and I'm going to build pedestals to raise them up higher off the floor.I plan to build them from 3/4 birch plywood, heavily braced.I would like to here from people that have built pedestals for there Mieles.I would like to get the dimensions that work best for these two models;length, width and height.Any suggestions of building materials they may work better then 3/4 birch plywood. Also what is the best height to build them.I do not plan to put drawers in them,it will be for height reasons only. Thanks

My washer is on the stand that you can get for it but I would like to make a pedestal for the machine. I have the W1986 which is the model made before the W1215.

These machines are heavy and if I built one I would make it out of concrete, and then put some type of facing on it if I didn't want to see the bare material. I don't know if your floor can support that, but absolutly level concrete would be my choice.

A couple years ago, there was a fine thread or two by someone named "Hey_J" about building a pedestal from wood for a Miele washer. The thread link is still present, but most of the images are no longer found. Hey_J still has a member page, perhaps if contacted she would help you.

Here is a link that might be useful: Miele 'setting-up' photos!

I have a homemade pedestal for an Asko Dryer made of 2X4's connected with metal corner brackets we bought at Home Depot. These are special heavy duty things that allow you to connect not only two adjoining horizontal frame members but also a vertical post at each corner. We have a 3/4" piece of plywood atop this as a floor for the machine. It's stood up to years of hard use. It would be easy to make this and simply screw on a skirt of a prettier material to the exposed front or sides. For a washer, I would consider some additional diagonal bracing, although this would eliminate the possibility of using the space underneath for storage.

Eyemhip, did you build your pedestals? If you or anyone else has, would you please share the dimensions, materials, construction? I'd like to have them built but I don't know what to tell the contractor. Thanks.
