A salesman recommended this unit (& the matching dryer) to fit in our laundry closet. We measured the dryer and it seems like it would just fit, with either a (left) side venting or with a 2.5" rectangular duct on the back.

We didn't measure the washer, since usually it's the dryer that's the problem. Ironically the specs at www.inglis.ca (and everywhere else) imply the washer's the problem.

We have 30.5" of depth to the back wall. The specs say the washer is 30.75" deep. So my first hope is that someone with this unit can measure and confirm whether the stacked set is truly more or less than 30.5" deep (assuming a 2.5" or side venting on the dryer).

Also, are the Inglis, Maytag, and Amana really the identical machine? Or is there some minor difference inside? I've seen reviews online, mostly of the Amana and mostly good.

The other unit recommended by the saleman was a 24" Inglis set that may not have a Maytag/Amana equivalent (at least not with a near-identical model #): www.inglis.ca/index.php/en/products/laundry/washers/ifr4200. The pricing on the pair is about the same as the 27" (~C$1200). Does anyone have experience with this, or an American equivalent?

Thanks!

Inglis is usually re-badged introductory Whirlpool models - of course this could include Maytag models now. I have the Samsung compact model which is a stripped down version of the Maytag compact model and the Inglis doesn't look to be the same product. For kicks I looked at EU Whirlpool but it doesn't seem to resemble those machines either.

I considered these when I was looking but nobody seemed to stock them.

Thanks caryscott, the Inglis machines don't look like any of the Whirlpools I've seen. Maybe they're branching out. :)

Can anyone comment on the depth discrepancy with the 27" Amana NFW7200TW or Inglis IFW7200TW? Amana.com says the washer depth is 30.5" (dimensions sheet 30.75") and dryer depth is 28.75". Installation manual says washer cabinet depth is 28", which makes more sense.

The washer doesn't measure that deep but I'm afraid I'm overlooking something. I did notice the hose comes out at a stupid place (at the furthest-out point, instead of from a recessed point, like some others) but I still thought I could get it into a small space.

I have exactly 30.5" available and need to leave room for clearance at the back. I'll stack the units and vent dryer left, so whatever I buy needs to be <30".

Thanks for any advice or measurements!
