Amana Washing Machines

Need a new washing machine and was told by two repairmen to stay away from Amana-parts are expensive-maybe they are difficult to fix also. My 27 year old Whirlpool is not fixable-hate to part with it as they don't make them to last now.

I believe most brands are made by the same company.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Karen

RE: Amana Washing Machines

Amana washers that'd you buy today are completely different from the Amana to which the repairmen refer.

Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana, Admiral, Roper, Estate, Inglis, some Kenmore, and some Crosley ... are Whirlpool-family brands.

Frigidaire.

General Electric.

LG.

Samsung.

Fisher & Paykel.

Kenmore (Sears) is not a manufacturer. Kenmore products (washers, dryers, refrigerators, dishwasher, stoves, etc.) are sourced from other manufacturers. The first three digits (before the period ... example, 110.20907990) is a code for the manufacturer.

RE: Amana Washing Machines

I found a good site - cost helper. At the end of the description of each washing machine, they give a summary of reviews. I have found several reviews stating repeated repairs which obviously I don't want. Is there a washing machine without bells and whistles that aren't expensive that don't have repeated repairs?
