Not sure if this is the best place to post, but...

I am looking to put a utility cabinet in my laundry room.. Something tall enough to hand my mops. brooms, etc. Aside from my garage it is really the only place I can hang my utilities and something about putting my cleaning supplies in the garage with potential bugs doesn't sit well with me..

I am looking for a fairly cheap option- Ikea maybe? Any suggestion?

My idea is to have two tall cabinets (maybe 6' and two upper cabs. in the middle with an opening for laundry basket etc.). Does anyone have pictures of a similiar set-up?
TIA for your help!

I’m doing an IKEA laundry room. I too am debating about taking up space in the laundry room for mops & brooms, or storing these things in the garage which adjacent to the LR. Currently, the garage is winning. :-)

Back to your question… I’m not sure I follow your idea… But I will tell you that with IKEA, you have *lots* of choices for door/drawer sizes. In fact, a picture is worth 1000 words – check out all the variations one can have with an IKEA unit. Let me know if you have trouble understanding this. :-)

What we have decided to do with the laundry baskets is to install a 36" wide cabinet. This cabinet will have 2 shallow drawers on top, but I will leave the doors off so that I can insert 4 full sized laundry baskets – one for each member of the family – on the 4 shelves. I suppose I could leave the doors on, but I don’t want to. With IKEA, I can purchase the cabinets without the doors, and if I change my mind, I can buy them later.

I will also have a sink cabinet, but will turn the 2 doors of the sink cabinet into 2 pull outs – we did this in our last kitchen and it works *great*. I will have a trash can and a hamper for kitchen towels in here along with other cleaning items.

With my upper cabinets, I will use shorter doors which will give me an open space below – sort of like what you would expect for a micro wave cabinet. This is where I will place my CostCo sized bottles of laundry liquids and powders. One could place these behinds closed doors, but the easy access with this method is perfect. We did this in our last house as well.

I didn’t have room to add this cabinet to my layout, but I *love* the functionality of it (Morton5’s IKEA Kitchen from the Kitchen Forum)
