Here is my proposed change to the area making up the Laundry and Powder room. Note that I have bumped the top wall with the door to the powder room up about 8-10 inches to make it parallel wiht the end of the stairs. I have also bumped the right wall about a foot to as the extra room means more there than in the study.

This first attachment is my poor attempt at using SmartDraw. I will take a photo of my freehand attempt which is a little better. The shaded box on the lower left will be the cubbies. There will be cabinets above the W/D. On the remaining wall space we will put a sink, folding table, hampers, etc. Suggestions are appreciated.

Here another version I came up with. Cubbies move to top left. Powder shifts right. Not sure about how to swing the door the laundry or exact layout of W/D, sink and cabinets.

I like your first layout with the w/d around the corner, with cabs above them, and table/sink next to cubbies.

Thanks for the feedback back2nd. Wife vetoed that option as she wanted W/D closer.

Here is an updated version of last one. Only update, which I have not drawn is to move the sink to the right of the W/D. This gives a landing just inside the door to drop keys, etc. Probably use a pocket door here as well.
