Current Stackable Washer/Dryer Recommendations

Ideally, I am looking for a total price for the combined appliances in the $1200 - 1500 range, but will understand if reliability and economy don't mix. If I can price this out now, I can adapt in less-critical areas. (Or I can go with side-by-side and give up some storage area and logistical flexibility.)

You want Whirlpool or Maytag (same machine with some slight differences). Uses the same reliable direct drive system they have used for decades. The only other options in that price range are Frigidaire and GE, which just don't measure up quality wise.
