Top Rated Front Load Washers & Dryers

| Help - I'm getting mixed reviews on top recommended front load washers. Can anyone tell me what, in their opinion or experience is the best front load washer on the market today for under $1,000. I am leaning toward LG but have heard some bad reviews concerning problems with parts when repairs are needed. Any info would be most appreciated. |

I too like LG. But after some research here and locally, I will stay away from them. I called several local repair shops. Everyone said the same thing. Hard to get parts !! Some even refused to service because LG was difficult to deal with. Warranty claims denied.
I did not get a warm feeling about LG from anyone. Several said until they get their in house issues worked out they are passing on them for now. My advice to you is to contact local service people and ask them. I'll be sticking with Frigidaire or Whirlpool.
Don't get me wrong I would love a 4.0 cu ft front load washer. |

| When I was researching third party extended warranties, GE told me they warrant everything BUT LG because hardly anyone works on them and parts are difficult to get. |

| We bought a Frigidaire Affinity 6000 set in mid December for $999 for the pair (great deal I think, but even if not on sale the washer runs around $699 and the dryer around $599). We've only had them a couple of weeks, but so far I am loving this one. My laundry room is only a doorway away from the kitchen, and the washer is usually so quiet that I can be standing 6 feet away and barely hear it. At first, I would peek around the doorway because I thought it had quit running. Anyway, so far, so good, and I would recommend this pair to anyone I know. Please note however, that the washer needs to be perfectly level to be that quiet (but this is probably true for all front loaders). |

| Is LG made in Germany, or...? I like the steam-freshen feature... anyone else have that? I too plan to make my next WM a FL, for water-saving reasons, and consider it a corporate/cabal crime that top-loaders were foisted on the public decades ago, just when front-loaders were becoming the norm. Now we've come full circle. |

| I think LG is great, but service/parts are a big problem. If you are set on a front loader then where you buy it may be more important than what you buy. Do they sell a service plan or extended warranty and will they back it up - replacing your machine if it is a lemon, or if it can't be fixed within x days of any breakdown? How much is the service plan (Best Buy and Lowes are less than Sears)? I didn't buy a FL dryer, the Kenmore Elite looks very nice beside my LG, they are both white, with the same overall look. I trust the Kenmore Elite dryer to hold up well for a long time because the technology hasn't changed much, I didn't buy the extra warranty for that. |

| Bosch Nexxt 500 is under $1000. It's a great washing machine. I was attracted to LG but evidently they're no more than a flashy steel (er, plastic) box. What's more important? A shiny red bubblegum machine or a clothes washer? |

| I really liked my Bosch Nexxt pair until I had to put them into storage because I moved to, you guessed it, Germany. I now am running a little Siemens and it totally kicks butt. 192 degree hot wash. Ouch. |
