My basic Kenmore washer, in our house when we moved in (about 11 years old) has died :-( I need a replacement that will fit under the 36.5" counter it is built in to.

Everything I see is over that height, except a few Frigidaires, Frigidaire-built Kenmores, or Miele. I am unenthused about Frigidaire's track record (one salesman said he has never sold one that didn't need a repair call in the first year!) and hoping to go cheaper than Miele (I keep seeing reviews that show despite the 20- year engineering, actual life expectancy is more like 6-8 years, sometimes with frequent, if competent, service calls.) Also, the Miele is actually a little small for the space-- there would be gaps on both sides and above the unit in my cabinetry-- not ideal.

Can anyone recommend another reliable unit that would fit? I should also say I live in Canada so not all US models are available here.
