Unless you're the type of person that needs to re-freshen or release wrinkles for a few items often.

If you need to you can just toss a damp towel in with a few items to get the same affect in a regular dryer.

I'm also interested in this question. I hate to iron. I also wonder if there is a difference b/w those that have the water container compared to those that are hooked up to water.

Well apparently yes. I bought my son a set for part of their wedding present. He is very impressed with them and keeps telling me I should upgrade my set. From a kid who is picky about his clothes he says that he doesn't have to steam or iron stuff anymore.

They are the Samsung 457 models with the touch screen display. (Though their 455 looks like its the same model with out the LCD screen.) They are huge. Especially sitting on pedestals.

Isn't it funny how the modern HE washers spin so fast that we need to now inject moisture into the dryer to steam the wrinkles out of the clothes we just spun dry...

Actually, mrb627, the steam is more likely to be used to freshen a few items or dewrinkle items that weren't folded promptly than it is to dewrinkle while actually drying. it's true that you can toss in a damp towel to get a similar effect, but I still like the steam feature in my dryer and use it often for the stray shirt/pants/band outfit/etc. that needs freshening in a hurry.

I find the steam cycle very useful for those times when I don't get my clothes out of the dryer soon after the cycle ends. It does help loosen up the wrinkles - but doesn't eliminate the need to iron any more than the initial dry cycle.
Still, I'm glad I have it.
