Per my discussion today with Whirlpool about Duet & Sport washers, they're now using a different method of measurement for determining the washer's capacity; the actual drum size hasn't changed. As a result, the Duet's 3.8 cu ft size is now declared as 4.0 cu ft, and the 8400 Duet Sport's capacity now shows as 3.7 versus 3.6 cu ft (same for 8500 washer). So, those of you with earlier/smaller model Duet's can keep smiling -- nothing has really changed regarding the actual capacities of your washers, just the marketing numbers.
