New to crocheting... needle size question

Posted by sharon620 (My Page) on

Most things I am starting out with (scarves etc) call for an I hook. I can only find a I-9. Also what basic hooks should I have to start? I do not use the very small needles yet for delicate projects. Like I said I am starting off with scarves and small afghans.

Thanks for your help!

RE: New to crocheting... needle size question

When using worsted weight yarn, I am most comfortable with a G or H hook. For baby weight yarn, an E or F.

Hooks are often marked with a letter AND a number. and I-9 hook is exactly the same hook as an I.

Good for you for learning to crochet!

G, H, I, and J work best for me.
