baby blanket

about 20 years ago, one of the yarn companies marketed a kit for a baby afgan. The afgan was white done in strips. each strip consisted of alternating afgan stitch squares and open work squares. when all the strips were done, you joined them and then using yarn embroidered (i am not sure what) on the afgan stitch sections. This blanket was my daughter's favorite and I'd like to make one for my grandchild. Anyone have any info on the instructions?

i'm new to this site, and i'm having a ball with all the info you guys have posted. Thanks in advance for your help.
