Making bind-off edge look like cast-on edge

I just finished a scarf that I began with the long-tail cast on. The long tail cast on results in 1 row of knitting when it is finished.

The scarf pattern is (I believe) the twin knit pattern:

row 1: k3, p3, repeat to end

row 2: k1, p2, repeat to end

Repeat rows 1 and 2 to end of scarf.

I couldn't figure out how to bind it off so that the end looks like the beginning. I ended up binding off purl wise, which I now realize is just the reverse of binding off knit wise (the stitches show on one side or the other), and since this scarf has a reversible pattern there is no wrong or right side.

I'm satisfied enough with the outcome and I will not redo the end.... but for future scarves I'd really like to know how to do this for a more polished look.
