Any ideas on this?

I was looking through the new Vogue Knitting Magazine the other day and found a sweater that I really liked with a stovepipe neckline. I am not interested in knitting this sweater because I am already knitting a vest for winter and about the only time I can find time is when I am riding my exercise bike. The pattern has to be gotten from the knitting company anyway, but I would like the stovepipe collar to make a dickey. I wear them when I have a roundneck sweater with no collar. How would I go about making that collar on my dickie pattern.? You wouldn't want the neck too tight. Would appreciate any tips. It looked like the stovepipe part was about four to six inches thick.Thank you in advance. Barb
