Well, you could try the library or inter-library loan or the designer at http://www.virtualyarns.com/ It would be against the copyright for someone to copy the pattern for you without the designer's permission, no matter how expensive the book is. We'd all love to have a copy. Her designs are beautiful!

Wow, can not believe a pattern costs that much. I have never heard of her and am curious what her patterns look like made up.

I already tried interlibrary loan - only 10 libraries have the book & none are willing to loan it out. The book has 94 pages and is out-of-print. I have no other resources left but to hope someone will help me out. Do you share recipes? If you do, I bet you've broken copyright. Do you borrow a friend's magazine? You've broken copyright. Copyright is a topic of controversy and interpretation.

It is frustrating to be unable to obtain a pattern you REALLY want. However, I can understand the libraries' reluctance to send out such a valuable book. Is there any chance you can visit one of the libraries that have them? If so, ask if the library has obtained the "fair use" privilege (they pay for this). It entitles their clients to make a "fair use" personal copy of information (read: pattern, in this case) in a book, without violating the copyright. As for exchanging recipes and borrowing magazines, no violation of copyright is involved. Recipes have too many variables to be copyrighted, and while certain items in a magazine may be copyrighted, passing the magazine around for enjoyment is perfectly fine. The key to understanding "copyright" is to remember that the "right to copy" a created piece remains with the creator, even for 70 years after his/her demise.
