Hi Deb. There are lots of patterns out there. But for what you want to make, you don't really need a pattern. Just determine what stitch you want to use and make the rectangle any size you want. But here's a link to get you started designing your own, and some patterns, too.

I like a different prayer shawl, using the trinity stitch: Multiple of 4+2 (I used 70 sts on size 13 needles and my shawl measures about 24" wide) Row 1 (right side): K, *(K1,P1,K1) into next st, P3tog; rep from * to last st, K1 I used 3 skeins of Homespun. I first cut 96 9" pieces for the fringe (working 2 strands together, every 3rd st on each end). I don't like leftovers so I just knit until I run out of yarn, roughly 6 feet.

I just finished the Lion Brand prayer shawl in Homespun. It has a k3 p3 row, but someone here who has made it said the wool hides that pattern and it is just as well to knit every row (and a lot easier). So I did that. I like the shawl a lot, but it is much heavier than a Pashmina I think.

I am looking for a pattern for a cotton knitted wrap. It is rectangular in shape, but has 2-3 large buttonholes that allow it to be worn in a variety of styles. Any suggestions. I saw one in a store here in Hawaii. I am just a beginner in the knitting arena, but think I can handle this project.
