Has anyone made the 5 hour baby sweater?

I have two versions of the 5 Hour Baby Sweater in my collection of patterns to try. Before I get started knitting it for the ex neighbor girl's baby girl due in January, I thought I would ask if there are any areas of concern with this pattern. Since there are so many versions, I wonder if that's an indication that there are some problems that knitters are trying to correct in the basic pattern.

RE: Has anyone made the 5 hour baby sweater?

I have made many, many of these sweaters, both to give as gifts and as charity donations in conjunction with the blankets I make for Project Linus. I have several patterns also and have modified them in various ways; especially when making them for boys since I think that most of the patterns look slightly feminine. Your sweater is intended for a girl, so that shouldn't be a problem for you.

Most of the patterns do not have buttonholes and I like to use cute buttons (i.e. fire truck buttons for a baby whose father is a fireman, etc.) To make buttonholes, just add 4 extra stitches at each edge if necessary and then make buttonholes (K2, yo, K2 tog) every 12-14 rows - depending on the length of your sweater.

My newest favorite pattern is from the Lion Brand Yarn site and is called the Naturally Nice Baby Sweater. It has a collar knitted in seed stitch. I think you may have to join at the site in order to get this pattern, but it is free to join and the pattern is free as well. Click on the link below and put Naturally Nice Baby Sweater in the search bar at the top of the page.

Sorry to have gone on so long; if you have specific questions, I will try to answer them.
