Look inside the cone

I had to email Peaches & Creme cotton yarn to find out how much yarn was on the cone of P&C I bought the other day. The saleslady couldn't tell either. It was hard enough reading the label with white printing on orange background. I got an email back to look inside the cone. There (when I turned it upside down) was a label stating how much was on the cone The label itself was stuck way up in the cone.

So, how much is on a cone? Is it as good a deal as they make it out to be? The cones are what, about $7 or something? I'm almost out of the one I have but wonder if it's really a deal or if you find it on sale you can do better just buying multiple skeins. The only one I'm interested in is the natural cotton. I use it to make market totes.

approx 690 yards. Igot the #147 shaded Browns
I like the yarn and am tired of pot holders I'm making a grocery bag (expensive yes) I chained about 50 and did DC across then alternate a row of HDC I have about 18" done and will do about the same more then I'll sew up the sides and attach handles. I think it really is a bargain since there is still a lot on the cone I think it was about $7-8.
I'll post a photo when I'm done it is a joy to work with this yarn.
