When the patterns says "work 3 rows even", in stocking stitch does that mean knit one row purl the other, so is that 6 rows altogether????

3 rows even means to work without any increase or decrease.
Stockinette Stitch would mean Knit 1 row, Purl 1 row and
Knit 1 row total of 3 rows in all.
Garter stitch=knit every row so you would do 2 rows for
one ridge.
Hope this helps and good luck.
