Hi, just make a slip knot around your hook-leave a 6" or so tail-and start making your chain with the ball of yarn (hook in right hand and yarn in left). does that make sense? Isamae

You make the beginning chain using yarn feeding from the ball or skein, not the tail. I can help you with any other questions.

Thanks. Any suggestions for a good beginners book would be nice. I have one but someone said it is a little vague to learn from and the pictures don't really make sense to the instructions. I need a good ole pictorial.
