How to share pattern?

If I have a pattern saved in a file on my computer and I want to share it here, how do I do that? I see below that I need either a URL and a name of the link. What's that mean? I don't see anything that I can click on to attach a file.

Could you just copy it and paste it into your message? If the file is just on your computer, you cannot use a URL.
