We have a World Market just 10 minutes away. Just opened up a couple of months ago. If they're so good, I think I will not try them. LOL My favorite is Trader Joe's pfeffernusse cookies. I'm addicted. Fortunately, they only have them this time of year.

Witchazel, I know it is supposed to be hardy to 5a, but oakleafs aren't necessarily flower bud hardy here. In the nearest city to me (Concord, NH, solidly 5a) I've seen several that look fairly sad after one of our winters and they take some time to recover. I'm usually about 5 degrees cooler, so I haven't even tried. That's why I thought T2D might add her experience on these. My memory is that they didn't survive for her, but my memory sometimes fails me. ;>)

Helix apparently likes you more than you like it. What didn't you like about it? My first few blooms on it can be splotchy, but it's been a pretty good plant over the years. I think it may be my favorite of these, with Black Fathom Depths a close second. Black Fathom Depths looks so lovely and well-budded in your garden. That one seems to do well for a lot of people. I'm noticing low bud counts and short scapes on most of my early bloomers. I think it's the result of the seesaw weather. I hope the mids and lates will have better scapes. Debra

Even though I love tahini and blue cheese, I think a vinaigrette would work better with salmon. I just made this lemon basil one that was lovely and might work well (it's not too basil-y): Lemon Basil Salad Dressing 1/4 cup olive oil 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil 1 tablespoon white balsamic vinegar 1 garlic clove, minced 1 teaspoon sugar 1/2 teaspoon table salt 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper Whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, basil, vinegar, garlic, sugar, salt, and pepper in a small bowl until blended. Refrigerate up to 2 days.

I love lace cookie, never made them, and the ones I bouight at World Market are chocolate covered lace cookies~

Wow. chocolate covered. Don't tempt me. I was up by World Market today but used self restraint and didn't go in. Had I known Trader Joe's pfeffernusse cookies were all sold out for this year, I might have been tempted. I made lace cookies once, back when I was in my twenties. You have to work fast and they were a real pain to make hence it's been 50 years since I made them!

World Market has a great chocolate wine, called Chocolate Shop. They can't keep it on the shelf at Christmas.

They were out the other day and I ended up buying a different brand at Public, that's a dutch chocolate. I fear it won't be near as good as World Market's.
