Perhaps it will turn out like the demonstrations in Huntsville....quiet, organized, and peaceful. Most have not been disruptive of business or traffic, much to the dismay of local TV reporters, who were all salivating at the prospect of a juicy story.

One demonstration that was forecasted to cause problems was televised live by panting and perspiring reporters, but it was actually somber and rather moving, and didn't last very long. Stupid, stupid reporters.

I am so glad you posted this because I had no idea that the demonstrations would continue into your area. Prayers come to give peace to all.

We had peaceful demonstrations here in Dallas too, but thankfully they did remain peaceful.

Demonstrations here were silent. Literally. Except a speech given. Another somber event. So hopefully, it'll be the trend you'll get to benefit from.

We had a demonstration in Philly a couple of weeks ago...very quiet and little media attention.

I need to amend my earlier statement. I have nothing against the media IF they cover an event with honesty and respect. I believe that these peaceful demonstrations deserve coverage, not sensationalism.

The last I heard they don't have a permit to demonstrate. They plan to be at the entrance to "The Summit" on Hwy 280. That road is extremely high traffic all the time. They said they were only going to be on the grass, not in the road. I have a bad feeling that someone is going to get killed there today. Hopefully, many people will find alternate routes today.

I plan to stay off 280 completely. One thing is it's Friday and it's always terrible, and have no plans to go any where near The Summit. Bad thing is it's on 280, high traffic, and right off the innerstate where there's always tons of traffic.

we have so many innocents killed at least once a day in detroit, they loose count...

Peaceful protests here, but they did close some streets for a time.

Protesting on a highway is equal to a bunch of idiots. People can protest what ever they want but not on a highway. Childish tantrums is what I see, not helping their cause.

Apparently those demonstrators are out of towners. Any local would know you can't get in/out of that area on a "regular" kind of day. Wishing the best for you and your neighbors, be safe.

Well, it was a peaceful protest. They even thanked the police as they were leaving. I'm surprised.

There was another protest at the Galleria Mall. It was called a "die-in". They all laid down in the food court. I don't know if they have left yet or not. Last I heard it was also peaceful.

Thanks, Linda, I kept an eye on the news. I did venture out, today, but steered clear of going in the direction of The Summit.

Is this thread about a demonstration in a Southern town?

Do you remember, aqr, that during the years of Civil Rights demonstrations and activism in the South in the 60s, the hate-filled segregationists from the governors on down to the police and KKK members always blamed "outside agitators"?

Does it matter where demonstrators are from? Do you suppose no one in this town is upset about recent events?

Simply commenting on the stupidity of folks, black or white, who choose to put themselves and others at risk to defend two thugs who got themselves into situations of their own choosing. Yes, I grew up 45 minutes south of Little Rock in the 60's. The KKK burned a cross on our school football field across the hwy from our church during Sunday night service.
I believe all lives matter. I haven't seen anyone protesting or even commenting about the black on black crime. Where is that concern? Where is the concern from demonstrators for this little girl who is gone too soon at the hands of her own father?

Was the victim's behavior stupid? Maybe, although the DA said that he's convinced a number of witnesses lied in their testimony to the grand jury. The real story may never be known, beyond the fact that a policeman shot an unarmed citizen.

There's all kinds of crime, just as there are all kinds of colors of people. Most victims of gunshots and sexual abuse know the perpetrator. The story of the young girl is sad but hardly similar, the suspect is her father, not a cop.

People are free to demonstrate, neither you or I need to agree with what they have to say.
