I noticed you are looking for things you can grow indoors, I have a rooted piece of my Epiphyllum oxypetalum. Would you be interested in trading for that? I think it's a white flower.

I'd heard about grapes being bad for dogs, but just recently learned that onions and garlic seriously impair blood clotting...every dog i've ever had would pick the onions out of whatever, but they all ate a lotta garlic! Got over my February hump, i survived the Make-A-Wish trip to Florida...all in all, it went waaaay better than i would have imagined, the two handicapped kids had a pretty good time and didn't get sick, though the 18-year-old autistic girl went major manic on us the last few days...challenging to say the least. The other 5 siblings (all foster or adopted) in the family did great, too, i was really proud of how helpful they were, even without being asked. Wish they were more like that at home! I managed to avoid all "attractions", and even got to go to Tampa on my day off to visit an old friend...saw the sunset at St Pete, drinking Margaritas and watching the dolphins jump...went gator hunting at some state parks(didn't see any) and shopping (came home with a case each of ornges and grapefruit and three flats of strawberries), hung out with my 'neice and nephew', bought baby stuff for my soon-to-be 'great-niece'. Liz and Robert came and rescued me Friday night, we went out for Chinese. Sorry, no pics, but they're more adorable than ever(in fact, we were all just freakin gorgeous) ....doing well, and still in love...sigh... Got home Sunday, got a new dog Monday, another big hump for me...a year old Lab/Fox terrier mix named Quinn, he'd had a kinda rough life of late, but he's settling in really well. I didn't want to take him so soon, but the folks were threatening to take him to the pound...kinda wish i'd let them, i'm coulda picked him up there for $150, up to date on vet care, instead, by next Monday, i'll have laid out over $400 in vet bills for vaccs, parasite checks, heartworm/flea/tick meds and neutering...yeeesh. After Monday, the biggest thing on my calendar is "Start Peppers" on March 1st...;~) My 11 hens are giving me 6 to 9 eggs a day, so my next weekend off is Chicken Noodle Soup Day at Thistledew Dun...carbs be damned! Winter's last hurrah, i'm just hoping for a nice thaw in early March to get my big ol' coldframe put together...dying to finally have some fresh green stuff.

My most bittersweet moments were when we sold houses and I had to leave a garden I had spent so much effort on. We used to move every 2-3 years and this is the 19th house so there have been a lot of gardens. However it always brought the opportunity to plan and make a new one. I probably should be at the stopping point, altho in fact I'm still expanding since there is 'space' to fill. They will be much more easy-care tho than what I now have. There are times I'd love to sell this property and buy one with a smaller garden! Didn't think that 15 years ago but age has a way of helping us see reality. I still love gardening but since I retired I am not as committed to it as I once was. There are so many things I want to do and a large garden takes a lot of work and cannot be left for long. Vikyx, I suggest you learn how to grow plants, especially perennials, from seed. It's easy, not expensive, and you'll be amazed how many plants you will have in a short time. Also join your local garden club as they often have plant exchanges and you'll meet other gardeners who may even give you their extras. Most of us have many plants and seeds we are happy to share.

Don't let him take it all! That dark wood looks like it would make an awesome table, picture frames, all sorts of stuff. Go on a treasure hunt! Remember, good treasure is sometimes found after digging through a lot of mud and you will never lack stories of the new build when you can point to something that you made from the old one and talk all about where it came from and how you had it made or made yourself. Those are the things people pass down from generation to generation. My wife got a dining table and hutch from her grandmother that was made by her great great uncle from a barn they tore down years and years ago. They were over 105 years old when we got married (the table and hutch.. heh). We had them refurbished and the kids will get them some day or their kids will, if I ever let them date ... lol R
