Update from my house..

So thanks to AAA and her Christmas card..I thought maybe a few might think..."WTH happen to Terri? How are those K boys doing? Is Kam still the cutest boy ever?
Well.....we are good, really, really good.
We will be Grandparents to a Grand Diva in "hopefully" late February. Much like her Daddy, she has a naughty streak and has been giving her Mommy fits. K#1 got married last March. He's still not as grown up as he should be, but he's working on it. He will FINALLY start Barber College in March.
K#2 will be graduating in June. He has yet to commit to a school. He's enrolled in one state U already with his Math class in HS. Just accepted to another this week and is awaiting next week to see if his retest has a higher score to finish his application to Stanford. (I really hope so!)
That leaves Kamren..who is no longer the "little" brother. He is a Freshman..(I know where did that cute little guy go that many of you "met" just over 14 1/2 years ago.) He is taller and thinner than the other two could ever imagine and is not done growing yet!

So that leaves....we bought a house last spring. We almost doubled the sq. ft of my mom's house. So at first we kept saying how in the world did 5 people fit in that little 1 bath house all those years. Lol
My mom retired in September and moved back into her house.

The other little bit of news..In October I FINALLY after almost 7 years was able to obtain the position in the school district I've been patiently (okay sometimes not so) waiting for.
Life is really good. We are blessed, extremely blessed.

We've been hoping to hear from you and finally here you are! Sounds like everything is great. Congrats on the Grand Diva! K#2 and K#3 are just as handsome as when I first saw their pics years ago.

Be careful before you try to "confiscate" (aka steal) his tools. You could end up with criminal charges, lawsuits and more headaches. Without a court order you have no right to take it. That stinks, but that's the way it is. Who knows, they might not even be his tools! I'd go with criminal charges immediately and go with restitution rather than mess around with suing and not being able to collect. He doesn't pay child support, I imagine he's behind on taxes, probably owns nothing so collecting a partial judgment isn't going to be easy and you'll rack up more expenses. The court will be an incentive to him to make the restitution to you or be held in contempt. If the money's important to you, take the offer from the other person. They likely will never get it. Otherwise, it's a lesson learned. When I read the first part that he wanted the money to buy it the red flags were a flappin! I'd buy the stuff myself and have it delivered. Even if he bought it, you never know if he actually paid for it and could wind up with liens on your place and pay for it again. It's sad that people do this stuff. Morals, ethics and the like are so difficult to find. Good luck.

I suggest you post this on the Home Decorating forum. You will get alot more feedback than you'll get here. A colonial is not a craftsman. A bungalow is a 1 or 1 1/2 story house - not a 2 story. Craftsman homes don't have attached garages. There will be lots you can do to update this house. However, don't force it into something it's not. And don't be married to the trendy non-colors that some say are popular today ie greige. Colors of nature are always best for homes in wooded settings. head on over to Home Decorating:)

The bluish grey is not nice in the pictures. I would like white siding, white gutters and slate grey trim. Also agree with housson that the door should be a glossy black . For the entrance area, if possible, build a large light grey square deck that extends from the front door (no steps) to close to the property line and from the back wall (right of front door) to under the 3 windows (left of front door) with a white & glass railings like the other side of house (rear).

I assume by modern you mean more up to date. Not necessarily modern style like sharp corners, colder tones.... I love what you did and I think adding black trim would be amazing. Remove the landscape. You don’t need much by the porch. You need some by the right side of the house and for that I’d do something neat and simple. Two rows of boxwoods? I would for sure update the walkway. Maybe the same whitewash brick in a herringbone pattern. And can’t wait to see the new shutters. This is such an awesome home!! Love it. Love what you did. Looks amazing and will look even better!!

Wedding Day Photo, below.

We have only begun the updating of the house. It's all been cosmetic at this point. In a few weeks we are having the 4 very large very messy Douglas Firs taken down out front! Our friends will come help us with the tree pro..they will take away the wood and get yummy food while working. I'll keep all the chipping for my "mini orchard".

Our kitchen remodel will start sometime this Spring.

Once we recover from that we'll start on the bathrooms and then the "men's room".

You have a very pretty daughter in law, and it sounds as though you like her. A baby girl coming soon? Something female to add to that flock of men who have been your immediate family! How fun is that...

I'm glad you checked in to let us know how things are going, be sure to report back when those trees are down. I hope it goes smoothly. We took out a few 2 years ago when we moved in but nothing quite as weighty as fir, it was alder, a maple, couple of vintage cherry, plum, evergreen laurel and I lost track of how many 15' rhododendron. Multiple dump truck loads of ivy and blackberry ;)

I wouldn't mind a couple of the fir (away from the house), but what I've got are maples, cherries, dogwood, magnolias - all leaf dropping deciduous stuff - its a different kind of gardening here than I've done.

Ha spoiled! No doubt.
Grandpa to be is the one that "coined" her Baby Diva. He knows how it'll go.
Lol.. It'll be a little tough to spoil her as much as I'd like, they live 5 hours south.

Well I would love Kellan to go to Stanford. It makes the most "future" sense. But I think he's settling on WAZZU. At least their engineering program is pretty good. Just not as highly recruited as Stanford in the job market. He has a really good friend already over at Pullman. So he feels comfortable going there.

Terri, my brother stayed at WSU long enough to leave with his masters in geotechnical engineering. He's been highly employable, now many years later has his own firm with offices in three states. He's done well - it's a very respectable foundation and for less expense than Stanford.
Your bright boy shouldn't have any issues with education from there....
