I don't send any. Most of the people my age have died, the younger people don't even know I am alive, so Christmas is very easy at my house. The only thing that makes me sad is no children. My grands are grown and I have never even seen the great grands.

I only send a few and it's a little too early right now...I try to get them out about mid December.

I've started writing some of the personal messages, but haven't mailed any yet. I don't send out anymore than about thirty these days, but many are hand delivered.

We had one friend who prided herself in being the first card received. Well yea, when you send it out Thanksgiving weekend. She has since passed but this year we actually received one from another friend.
For the most part, people don't seem interested in sending cards out like they used to. We are thinking of reevaluating our list this year.

I tried to get the missus to create cards for this year while she spent some down time on a cruise to Hawaii in March. She declined.

I'll create something and get them mailed later. The list, as has been noted, is getting shorter every year.

Yes, almost too early. I usually get mine out mid month also. I was surprised to see so many homes already decorated in our neighborhood. Our block, the end by the school is all decked out, then down by our end it is dark.... I think it is where the old folks live. It is a long block too.

I stopped sending cards in 1971 but donate the money I would spend on cards and postage to charity.

The people who are mailing early are making up for me, because the way things are going, I'm going to be late this year. :-)

I quit doing cards except for my immediate family and my husband's. I might do a couple of my neighbors but hand delivered.

When I sent out cards, I used to mail them on Dec 1st, with a handwritten note inside. I had no idea that people would complain about the date they received them. The PO was always encouraging us to mail early, avoid the rush.

I am about to send them out. This weekend. Is it too early? They're all likely to go to people in my town and one a couple of states away. I want to make sure I get them to everyone, before they get them to me. I am never first, and I feel like they might think I had forgotten them. I'd hate for them to think that.

I don't send many, just to the few friends who live far from me. I like for them to arrive close to Christmas, so I'll probably send them around the middle of the month.

Please don't take this as a silly question - but how do you stop sending cards? I send out perhaps 3 dozen to old friends and acquaintances across the miles and we're at the state now where most are just signed with a brief holiday greeting - no news, no catching up to speak of... kind of like just letting people know we're still alive and thinking of each other during the holidays.

It's a chore for me with RA to address cards, hand write notes - I don't have the computer bells and whistles to print out envelopes and a "Christmas letter" (which I've never been wild about anyway) to include. This year I'd like to send an email to those I still feel closest to over the years and skip the card business.

Maybe I'm just over thinking this.

I'm not complaining, just surprised. So, I found out that one of the sender sent the cards out early because they're planning to travel out of the country. By the time they're back, they won't have time to send out the cards in time. That made sense.

Duluthinbloomz4, I think eCards are fine too. Many people accept them as well.

Personally, I like receiving cards because I can decorate with them.

I love sending cards. I usually send out around 100. As long as I am able I will do so!!

I like getting the Christmas letters. It is fun going back thru them and see the people change and relatives grow up. They even help when anyone does family history. Some of my friends and relatives are gone now, but just seeing their pictures brings back memories.
The staff has started decorating here and many of the residents have done so and most everyone is really cheerful and up for the holidays. For many we are their only family and it means a lot to all.

I sent mine out last week! I had them done so I figured why not, just pop them in the mail. It's never too early for Christmas! (I love Christmas, can't you tell)

I've made 103 cards. Now I just have to sign them, add any note I want to write in them, then get all of the envelopes addressed, stamped, and they will be ready to mail.
