We've talked about getting some kinda robot vac...but it needs to pick up medium length dog fur..

Oh heck! I thought maybe you got a new puppy! However, in the long run, the robotic vacuum will be very useful--and not as messy as the puppy! :>)

We need one that will pick up cat fur and work on multi floor surfaces..does yours work on multi floor surfaces???

I sure loved my little Rumba! Lasted 10 years. Picked up more dog and cat hair than the upright. Worked on carpet and linoleum. Mom has (had?) a Scooba (little robot floor shampooer) that she loved for her tile floors down in Florida!

Laura there is one that picks up animal hairs!

Robbie did the carpet and my kitchen hardwood floors. Worked wonderfully!

And when he's done he goes to his recharger, backs in and BINGO! Set to for for the next time he's to clean!

I had a roomba and it would get stuck under my furniture, sofa and chairs or the table. But on the rug it did an ok job. I love the look of your robbie. Your son gave you a great gift.

We've had a couple of Roombas over the years. DH gave me the 1st one of Christmas one year. I loved it. He liked to play with it and ran it. I never even learned how it worked because he did all the vacuuming - certainly did get me out of the habit of doing that job. :)

This one isn't a roomba, it is a neato robotics vacuum.

We watched it clean the dining room, going under chairs, in and out. It was awesome.

All you have to do is plug it in, set the dates and time you want it to vacuum, and it does the rest.

Priciier than a roomba.

We bought a Roomba for our daughter since I found myself vacuuming every time I visited her. They had bought a 60 year old house, and the people who owned it before them ruined the parquet floors with letting the rain in onto the floors from the patio and their huge dog. The varnish was flaking off continually. Unfortunately, the toddler was terribly frightened of the Roomba, so she has never used it. It just sits there. Too bad. I suspect it will be put away after the remodel is done this spring.

Please keep us updated on it, they seem much more reasonably priced than the Roomba's so I'm curious if they do as good a job. I'm looking for one for my upstairs and wouldn't mind saving a hundred or two!

I am also curious about the Scooba...and i'm waiting for when the robots can load and unload the dishwasher!

Oh, weird, I was looking at the retail prices on the Neato website which had the most expensive at $449, but I didn't look at Best Buy. Still a little bit of savings, I think the new Roomba I'm considering is $700. I would still be curious what you think after a few months.

I have two Roombas and have had them for some years. They were not near that expensive as they are the basic ones, no setting or going back to their dock to recharge. They work well for me. Amber has a better model now and of course it costs more. I would love to have a Scooba and have wanted one for some years. I just got the Hurricane mop for Christmas yesterday and tried it a little today and think I will really like it. I can sit and mop now.

Have had several Roombas and a Scooba over the years...never again. They seemed to have lots of technical problems and got stuck all the time and always needed new batteries. Now am the proud owner of two Neato's and love love love them. They do an amazing job on carpet and tile....even leave vacuum marks on the carpet so they are pretty powerful. Wouldn't pay $500 tho...Woot has them once in a while and I got one at Walmart online for $299, new not refurbished.

Mine doesn't require batteries. It has a charger that it goes to when it's finished.

Amazing watching it back up and adjust itself to the charger.

Mine also programs the room, before it cleans.
Stores the program so it doesn't have to do it each cleaning.

I had to laugh when I saw it's name is Robbie. Mind is Rosie.

I get a kick out of mine when it docks itself. I like the 3 beeps when it's backing up to get going, like a truck. I had one a few generations ago that was so-so but the new ones are so much better. I can't wait to see what they have in another 5 years.
