I wanted to see if people would be offended by a comment about someone from the left being accused of not having a mind of their own and only using talking points from a left wing media person. I wanted to see if anyone would be flabbergasted that a lefty could be annoying at a party with his politics. I wanted to see if I could use the name Rachel Maddow in any form and not get attacked when it was perfectly acceptable for others to use Rush in derogatory insinuations. And what you found out, jterrilynn, is that the only part of your story anyone here took offense to was the derogatory name-calling you chose to employ that Rush Limbaugh is so famous for. If you had just used her given name, people would have read it and moved on.

Report of prostate biopsy due in a couple of days. Daughter called on Easter morning - the best Easter present. When I suggested that if I got bad news at the biopsy report ... that I'd have a great deal of work dealing with the messy house ... ... and she laughed: said that most folks, informed of limited life expectancy, would be talking of travel ... visiting family, etc., etc. ... ... and with Dad ... it was dealing with messy house, not leaving it for survivors to cope with! Which reminds me ... I've thought for some time that one of the things that I must add to the "Last wishes" folder ... ... is to write down Gardenweb's address, so son can inform folk here of Dad's mouth being closed ... finally! Regular IRA, where you claimed a deduction for the contribution? Not forever. Records need to be maintained to support income and deductions in case of an audit. For people who file their returns honestly, the IRS has 3 years from when the return is filed to propose audit adjustments. There are other rules but there's no need to mention them. California FTB has 1 more than that, 4. Call it 5 years. What comes out of a regular IRA is all ordinary income anyway, so once you've substantiated your deduction and the statute of limitations for the deduction year closes, there's no need to have the statements. You can often get replacements for lost statements from the bank or financial institution anyway, so they're not precious either way. For a Roth IRA, what goes in isn't deductible and what comes out is non-taxable, so you don't need to keep those at all. Remember that some documents that can affect future returns (like cost basis of stock or real estate purchased) need to kept for use in the years assets are sold.

@Salma ... the double-drawer DishDrawer is my only dishwasher, household of one. I alternate between the top and bottom drawers. I typically run a load every 2 to 4 days, depends on how much cooking and whether there are guests. Note that there's no such thing as a specific "top" drawer. They're manufactured and sold as either a double-drawer unit or a single-drawer unit. A double-drawer model is not the same thing as two single-drawers stacked together. Double-drawer models are a unitary outer cabinet with two drawers inside, like a two-drawer file cabinet ... they cannot be separated. A two-drawer unit has one water input connection (dual valve feeds separately to each drawer), and two drain hoses (separate pumps for each drawer) which combine via a Y-adapter to one drain connection. Likewise, two single-drawer units cannot be physically combined into a double-drawer machine. They could be installed stacked together but must have a partition/support panel between, and separate water input and drain connections.
