so funny I opened this as baking was finishing on the biggest, prettiest zucchini/ricotta pie I had ever baked, Took it out of the oven and as I was placing it on the cooling rack, it slid right off the island with a big splat, all over the family room floor, and the dog, she's in heaven now as she licks it and hubby is running around the house trying so hard to help clean, but he has no idea what to do next. and I'm stuck thinking of what else to make without going to the store again, I hate when stuff like this happens,which luckily is rarely.. well onto the other baking, cinnamon rolls, and the crepe_cake, The crepes turned out great, and the filling is made, just have to stack and glaze. I hope I only have one baking accident today. Happy Baking everyone!!

Jasdip, Your posted recipe got me going and I took most of your recipe and some of another to make it. The main spices I used were Summer Savory (out of my sister's Oakville garden mind you) allspice and cinnamon (just a bit) and I used what I had in the house which was ground beef and pork. Another recipe I had said 1/2 gr beef, 1/4 ground pork, & 1/4 ground veal. I did with it just like Mom. The first night it was Tourtiere with mashed potatoes and gravy with green beans and then the next day it was for breakfast with eggs and ketchup. Yup, I'm Canadian and I miss my comfort food.... I LOVE it with ketchup! I also have to have vinegar with my fries which doesn't even exist here in CA so I rarely eat fries anymore unless I make them at home. I've asked a few times for vinegar at different resturants here and they look at me like I have two heads. That's for potatoe salad and CLEANING doncha know LOL. I would have loved to share the pie with you....I'm glad that you and Laurel got together....totally cool!!

I've had the urge for an Apple Crostata, and Empires and Cortlands are my favourite apples. Boy I wish I lived closer to you Alsisande, your apples look wonderful. I'm in apple country, but they're still pricey. I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get some regardless. Nicole, I always put molasses in my bran muffins. It also calls for buttermilk, and I combine yogurt and milk to make buttermilk. It works perfectly, as we always have yogurt in the frig. I didn't do any baking this weekend, I made bread last weekend and we still have some. But I have chicken thighs that were marinated in lemon juice, garlic and lemon zest. They're in the oven over rice, baking now.

HERE'S pictures of some of the pretzel treats. Since I don't eat these kinds of goodies, I don't make things like that very often. But I love to make candy and bake and do so during the holidays to give as treats. I haven't decided what I might make yet. Here's a recipe for spiced pecans that is a favorite of mine, and something that I do nibble on. I've had it for a long time but don't remember who to attribute it to. 4 1/2 cups pecan halves 1/2 cup unsalted butter 2 T. Worcestershire sauce 1/2 tsp. seasoned salt 1/4 tsp. garlic powder 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 + tsp. cayenne or other hot pepper powder 1/8 tsp. powdered cloves Place pecans on cookie sheet and bake at 300 for ten minutes. Heat butter and all dry incredients in a saucepan and pour over nuts when they come out of oven, stir well; bake for ten more minutes. Cool completely before storing air tight.
