I want to wear pumps too, but my back objects ;)

My brothers wife has a different problem than yours, her little feet are almost square. About a size 5, like little blocks and calloused from ill fitting shoes. My best suggestion to you if you live near one, is go to Nordstrom. Look for a clerk older than 12, have them work with you and make suggestions.

My mothers podiatrist had a catalog of shoes for less than average shaped feet, but tell you what, they cost more per pair for basic and marginally feminine than most of what you'd find at Nordstrom.

I feel your pain. My foot is very wide with a narrow heel. I wear a SAS shoe, think the name is Regina. Has a little heel to feel dressy. Good advice already given to find a great clerk that will work with you. It makes shopping a pleasure when you find a helpful salesperson.

If you have a Nordstrom department store near you, go to the shoe department there and explain your issue. I find that the salespeople there really know their inventory.

The other alternative is to find a "Mary Jane" type shoe with a strap over the instep that will keep the shoe heel from slipping off your foot. I have a B foot with a double A heel and I find it almost impossible to find a shoe with a combination last.

Shelgal--that's what I've been doing and they work--I just would rather wear some pretty pumps.

I've bought shoes at Nordstrom off and on, for many years. I've mentioned my problem but not one clerk suggested anything useful. As a matter of fact, the last person who "helped" me with a pair of shoes there was plain awful. He left me to my own devices after taking forever to get the shoes. When it was time to ring up though, he slid in front of the nice man who was helping me in order to get the commission. I told him what I thought of his salesmanship and he didn't give a fig. I also wrote a a letter to customer service and received a reply telling me they would send it on to the manager. The last I noticed, the clerk was still there.

I'm not quite ready for SAS, but know I'll be interested down the road. :)

Easy Spirit seems to work for my small wide foot. I also have a pump by Aerosole called Cheerful.
I did have to put n a heel grip. the thing is. I can not wear heels for long periods of time. I certainly can't stand on my feet all day in them.
I wear my heels for special occasions, when I know I will be be seated most of the time.
When I was looking for a dressy sandal a few years back, I can't tell you how many shoes I ordered and returned. I finally found a pair from Natralizer (Haven't worn this brand in years) but the Prissy came in a wide and fit.
I would go to Zappos as they have free shipping back and forth. Just keep ordering. Eventually you will find something that works.

Sjerin-I have the same problem you have. I have been known to put in up to 3 of the heel pad thingys before if it is a pump I really like. Also you can buy inserts that don't cover all of the bottom of the foot. Those work well too, they are Dr. Scholles (sp)

I have narrow feet, but my big toes are a bit longer and do good with the mail order Auditions. I like the Soft Spots You can go on line and request a catalog. For winter I love the toe warmers from Canada which I get from Auditions.
