My highschool, Nauvoo-Colusa Vikings, had one. It was purple with a gold N/C on the front.

Had a school sweater--only got rid of it when we moved last year. Ours were garnet, with 'gold' bands and letters (I had 3 Varsity letters on mine--don't laugh--Archery, band, and scholastics).

Both my sons had letter jackets. One for band and the other had one for sports, varsity letters, Baseball, and basketball. I still have their jackets.

I had a band jacket with gold lettering that said The Great Marching Husky Band across the back...hey it was the late 70's early 80's. We had stripes across the sleeve to show how many years we were in the band. Oh and our names embroidered on the front.

I've never heard of a class sweater. We had class rings.

Wow, does that bring back memories. Yes, we had class jackets in the 50's. Our school colors were garnet and gold. My grandkids play dress up with mine. It hasn't fallen apart yet. Marilyn you mentioned your hubby's FHA jacket. We had JHA jackets and they were garnet, the guys, FHA jackets were blue. Not sure what ever happened to my JHA jacket.

Hallngarden--I've never heard of another school with garnet and gold! What was your mascot? We had a Garn-IT (it was a little creature that looked like Cousin It from the Addams Family, wearing our garnet and gold).

azzalea, you know I don't remember the mascot. Our teams were cyclones, but do not remember mascot. I do have all my yearbooks, you are going to be the reason that I have to pull them down and see the mascot.

No sweater, we had dark green blazers that matched our uniforms. The breast pocket had a monogram of the school emblem.

Our colors are dark green and white, the nickname is the Fighting Irish and last I heard, the mascot is a leprechaun.

The school is over 125 years old.

I think I had a class sweater, I know I had a ring. Don't know what happened to it. Would like to see one as I graduated in 1950. I know DH did not have one even though he ran track and did weight lifting. Not sure if he ever got a letter or not and sad to say now he is gone can't ask him.

My highschool did not have school jackets pre se, but did issue wool letter sweaters. In order to buy the sweater through the school's office, you had to be a member of a school sponsored activity. The principle ones were baseball, basketball, band, home economics, and argricultrial shop. Our school colors were blue and white. The woolen sweater was blue and the letters were white with a blue border.

The blue dye had to be protecfed from certain oxidizers else the blue dye would turn to a violet-purple color and then fade. We could tell which students lived in a house that was heated with raw natural gas. Their sweater color would go off color.

We lived in a small oil well field and most of the wells produced natural gas. Much of that was burned off at the well head, but some was collected to run oil pump engines and for a few other uses. As a PR move, the oil company would run a small gas line to the house of the land owner for his personal use, mostly for cooking and winter heat. That stuff was unwashed, raw, natural gas and contained other things; one of the constituents was H2S, hyrogen sulfide. This was the item responsible for discoloring dyes in the household. It was not healthy.

DH and I both had sweaters... white, with navy stripes denoting 'grade" I think.... then small 'letters' of the sport or award that one earned. Still have some of the 'letters', but the moths had their way with the sweaters long ago.

Each graduating class voted and chose what color our wool sweaters would be. They were not our school colors. School colors were purple and gold. We did not have large letters on the front but large numbers, designating the year we would graduate. The only sports allowed at our school was some softball and basket ball. No football ever, no dancing was allowed. It was a new big two story school when I started first grade and it was out in the country. Most all rode the bus and rode it back home too. My husband and I each have our class rings. He did not go to my school but went to a school some miles away in town and their school was different. They had all kinds of sports and things.

We didn't have class sweaters, but the guys who played sports had them , and some times they gave them to their girlfriends. Our colors were blue and gold ,and my boyfriend was a basket ball player, and I wore his sweater for a year.

My school colors were red and black, all our sports teams were called "The Red Devils". But I didn't buy a school sweater. My Dad was out of work for years and we couldn't afford any extras.

I have a band jacket. My older brother had one with leather sleeves. Ours had vinyl sleeves. I still have the jacket. The school colors are red and white. There were clubs that had sweaters, but I was pretty busy with band. I also have a class ring. I was so excited to get it, but I didn't wear it very long. I also grew up in the oil field, but they flared most of the natural gas. My husband can tell some stories about exposure to hydrogen sulfide. He worked in a gasoline plant for about 12 years.

Yes I have my High School sweater. Our colors were blue and gray and I had letters for Chorus! I graduated in 1964 from Bishop Egan HS.

No class sweaters at my school. We just had rings which we ordered at the end of our sophomore year and received at the beginning of the junior year. I always wore mine up till about 10 years ago when one of my kids got me a Mother's ring. I did wear my class ring to my 50th class reunion 4 years ago.

I had a letter jacket. Any awards that were given for this activity, had patches. They got added to the jacket on the sleeve. With our school name emblazoned on the back.

We had sweaters, but it seemed that only the athletes had them, with the big letters awarded for some achievement in sports. They were often 'given' to their girlfriends to wear, so I proudly flaunted the one I had been given.

We bought our school rings at the beginning of our senior year, and those too, were given to girlfriends to wear. I can remember wearing my boyfriend's ring with tons of adhesive tape wrapped around the back so that it wouldn't slip off.

How simple things were then.

I went to 5 high schools in 4 years......no sweater, jacket or class ring. I didn't go to prom either.

We always wrapped those boyfriend rings with thin ribbon instead of tape. But almost the same!

Yes I had one 1949 model! I remember there being a big discussion with my mum and dad about it, we lived on a farm and times were a little tough in the money department, I managed to babysit and earn some of the money and got one on the grounds that it was a warm and useful item!! Loved it , but its been long gone for many years. Fun Times those high school years.

Yes, I remember the class rings. I got one my senior year. I might still have it. I wore my boyfriend's ring either taped up or wound with ribbon or around my neck on a chain. Simpler times, indeed.
