Help..I'm on Fire!

I have broken out in a rash on the top of my feet. A million little bumps and it is awful. It feels like thousands of ants biting me. I have put cortizone-10 on my feet.

It is driving me mad. Any ideas of what to put on my feet.

I haven't walked outside in the grass until recently and I had my Crocs on.

I am no doctor but check out cellulitis...I had this on the back of my legs last month.Â The antibotic Keflex is about the only thing that will help.Â Elevate and put heating pad on it...Good luck

Gosh, there could be any number of things going on. Change in lotions or laundry detergents? New shoes or socks? And when you were walking in the grass.... when was "recently"?

Hydrocortizone would be the only thing I would have available in my house, but I think I'd be trying cold compresses to help with the burning sensation.

Hi Everyone, Love this talk of soup. Keeping the hamburger soup recipe above - sounds great. I'm still using frozen tomatoes from last summer's garden and they taste great. Got some seed trades in the mail and my seed order from Thompson & Morgan...I'm in heaven here! It's raining outside now. Earlier there was freezing rain - truck over turned off the highway in a farmers field. Judging by the distance into the farm field a layman's guess is the driver was speeding (many do on our local highway) and must have hit the slushy/ice on the road edge and got pulled off the road. I pray whoever was in the truck makes it through this whole affair. Absurd weather for mid-January. Weird storms all over North America. Sitting here tonight, fire roaring, watching National Treasure 2 I see dried soapwort seed heads on my coffee table, envelopes in a plastic tub with last years seeds, hot cuppa tea, lip balm, new seed packets, a red poinsetta and an ornamental garden bird. In front of the large window rosemary and baby sitting a christmas plant container for my MIL while on holiday. I have to have growing plants around me (there are more). Blooming pink begonias are on the plant shelves in front of the patio doors in the other room - bless their hearts blooming like they do. Such troopers. My large geranium is resting right now from flowering. Thinking of taking cuttings to start some new geraniums for this summer. I am that sad person in the fall asking - are your going to toss that? I am the plant version of the pet rescue folk. I love sharing your day while we plan next summers gardens, get through this weird weather and pass the winter days. fire ants! natural alternative?

There are baited poisons and general insecticides that one can broadcast over the yard. I do not like using such poisons. It may be my imagination, but while still a problem I am seeing fewer colonies this year. What I used is a powdered general insecticide that has little toxicity for mammals and I like watching the adult fire ants writhe in agony. I will sprinkle enough water so when the ants brush r walk over it they are poisoned. Dry poison a granules are less effective. One does not kill the entire colony the first time and they will move to make a new one. The second one will be much smaller and if the third appears it will even smaller. My dogs have learned how to deal with these critters. The dogs often pick up fire ant infested pears that have fallen and will either roll the pear or avoid the pear totally depending on the dog. The cat apparently has no problems even though it likes to kill small snakes. Fire ants love dead snake. I am in northwest florida and I hate yellow jacket ground hornets, fire ants, squirrels, racoon, and possum..

Well, my first "adventure with meat" was pretty discouraging. I went to the farm market and did not see ANY lamb OR turkey OR fish, and even the all beef sausages were $5.49/lb. One stall had about 15 different kinds of sausages, but they were all expensive and also they all sounded like they were pork based. I also saw at the same place about 10 different kinds of hamburger patties, which gave me inspiration for maybe trying to make a Mediterannean style patty using the recipes above, maybe with feta cheese. I think the market must have been low on meat because I went late in the day on the last day. That's when you can get the good deals but apparently that's when they are out of meats, lol! I did score some pita and some hard rolls for a song. Then, I found out the fish market in my neighborhood closed at the end of last year, but there is still that other one that Ruthanna recommended to check out. Good thing I have two weeks to prepare. There's also a kosher meat market in my neighborhood. Boy, am I ever finding out a lot about meat! Here's a link to the recipe for the cake. I like the idea of cupcakes, because I can make one batch ahead and freeze them. I made ricotta cupcakes before and they were fab. Only thing is, I think I am going to change the menu a bit depending on what meat I do and maybe not do this cake since I will probably do corn chips for the appetizer. Now I'm thinking six layer dip, (no beans since that's an entree), corn chips, mint lemonade, kofta or shwarma with pita and tzatsiki and tahini dressing, potato salad, calico baked beans, (maybe some grilled marinated Mediterranean veggies too) and coleslaw or tossed salad. I would suggest wash the area with soap and water then cold compresses and benadryl if you have any. Or any antihistamine. Hope you feel better.

Calamine lotion helps. Cool and soothing. Put it on and let it dry. If it is an allergic reaction, Benedryl can help if you can take it along with whatever meds you might take. It will also make you sleepy, so if the rash is keeping you awake that's good, but be careful if you drive.

Can you get shingles on your feet? My sister is just getting over shingles and she described them much the same way.

Have you had any changes in medicine lately? Taken any new medicines? I broke out in hives the first time I had my eyes dilated--I'm allergic to the dilating drops.

Have you put on any new clothing, any new socks, new shoes? New lotion? It doesn't have to be the first time you put it on--sometimes it's the second exposure that starts the reaction.

I agree with Katlin. Wash, dry and use benadryl orally. Topically too if you have any along with the cortisone.

Aaaaah! Finally. Relief.

When I moved into my Mother's house after She moved to the nursing home I found all kinds of pain remedies. I boxed them up and put them in the garage.

I found this spray stuff. Herbal Formula Natural Menthol. Called Premiere's Pain Spray. On the label:

So I gave it a go....Wha..La! No more itching. But, the dogs will not come near me. LOL! It also cleared up my allergies. LOL!

I wonder where you can by this stuff. Don't tell me to ask my Mom. She doesn't even know who I am half the time.

Thanks Chubby Rat! This is only a 4 oz. bottle, I think I just used half of it last night. I'll order somemore. It will probably work on "Skeeter Bites" too.
