New Netflix recommendation...

The show is called Broadchurch (British). Season one has 8 episodes. I don't know if or when season two will show up. In a small coastal town a female officer returns to her village from vacation to find her promotion has been given to an outsider, a man who seems to bring some personal baggage with him. Their working relationship starts immediately with the discovery of a local boy's body on the beach. The show examines what happens to the town's inhabitants, the boy's family and friends as suspicion develops. Acting is excellent. Great murder mystery, and so much more. Now maybe I will start decorating the tree.

We just got all caught up with The 100. (my sister was killed in season one..... ;( ).

Another good series is The 4400. Kinda reminds me of Heroes, but not.

We're finally catching up on Breaking Bad. I think we're finally on season 3.

And I have to get back to watching Life on Mars. I wish we had the British series. I watched a few episodes that my sister downloaded and loved it. The American version good too, but I prefer the British one.

I really enjoyed the series as well. Partly because when I was in Great Britain back in 1990, I toured through formerly secret tunnels in the cliffs of Dover. Three older ladies who were a part of our tour group were hanging back in the group and quietly talking to each other. When the guide asked if they had a question they said they had worked there during WWII and had been sworn to secrecy about the existence of the tunnels, but since the tunnels were now open to the public they figured they could talk about them. They worked on a different level, and remembered a long staircase, so the guide opened a door revealing a that staircase disappearing further down into the cliff. When they were asked what jobs they did, they paused for a second and said worked as clerks/typists.

Late to the discussion as usual... My sister was recently raving about Mrs. Maizel to me, but I have yet to check it out. I have recently discovered Documentary Now! on Netflix & really enjoy its escapist silly-ness. It's from a couple of years ago & I don't know how I missed it, but there is truly such a wealth of good entertainment nowadays, I don't know how anyone can keep up. Helen Mirren introduces every episode, Bill Hader & Fred Armisen star & executive producer is Lorne Michaels. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4677934/ I prefer comedy to drama, so I really don't follow the dark & sober stuff, tho hubby does.

Love the clothes and old cars. Not wild about the story line. I would have stopped watching after the second episode but DH wants to see it through to the end. His reason is there isn't much on to watch that is new. Just started waching Fargo last night and am undecided on that.

I admit watching good TV is one of my favorite hobbies, and I look forward to checking out these recommendations. I second Episodes with Matt Lablanc. I also loved Enlightened on HBO with Laura Dern, quirky character and heartwarming. I also enjoyed Jimmy Carter Rock n Roll President on Netflix (I'm a Georgian) and the documentary Crip Camp, a great story about birth of disability rights movement.

The entire series of Broadchurch is on Netflix....we watched it to its conclusion earlier this year and enjoyed it very much. The American version is Gracepoint, on now but I'm not sure which channel. The same male British detective is in the American version. We watched two episodes, didn't think it was as good, and the story is the same.
