I am not a fan of tattoos, but I am happy if it makes you happy. I do like your choice of a dragonfly. Cute. I'd rather have a dragonfly necklace, but that's just me. My son has a small dolphin on the back of his shoulder.

I have 3 tats..one is of an Orchid (hence my nicknames) second one is a "bracelet" tat of the Celtic Trinity knot with shamrocks going around my wrist (got it in Ireland) and third is one of Betty Boop on my right calf.. I'm too afraid of pain to get one. I think they can be pretty. My daughter has a heart tattoo on her hip. She swears she will never get another.

I read your post that you were thinking about it. You are a brave soul, Jean. It's really pretty, but all I can see is pain. I'd love a tiny lady bug, but that'll never happen. Between weight loss and old age I don't have a piece of skin big enough that isn't wrinkled.

I like it. I don't have a tattoo and I don't really want one. Mainly because I change my mind way to often. That is one thing I really don't want to regret. But your tattoo looks great.

Looking good! I got my first (so far, my only) tattoo almost two years ago at age 64 after an 86-year-old friend died. She got her tattoo on her 80th birthday, and I swore I would not wait that long. I have a resistor on the inside of my left wrist.

Patti, I likened the pain to childbirth...LoL lasts just a short while, and the results are forever.

At first, I tried to distract myself by paying attention to other things, and asking a lot of questions, and not looking, then I really started watching and that seemed to help much more with the pain. The worst part was the outlining. Thank goodness it isn't very big.
I can't imagine the people who get huge ones!

I have 3 tats, I didn't think of it as much pain. I would have more but limited myself to 3. Two are hidden unless wearing bikini suit and one is a toe ring.

I think you can get lost in the moment with tattoos! I don't care to see them all over ones body, I have friends that have way too many in my opinion.

In some job interview situations, most especially for white collar or professional positions, a job seeker with visible tattoos may be viewed unfavorably and if so would be at a disadvantage compared to other applicants. This was my personal experience with co-workers in interviewing candidates with a large-ish employer.

It's something for young people to consider. For many jobs it doesn't matter.

Personally I think they're hideous but to each his/her own.

SOME tattoos are hideous, but I wouldn't say all. I think yours is tasteful. I am not a tattoo lover for myself, but I do agree they can be a turn-off to some people.

DD got a tattoo while she was still in college and I was pretty upset because I specifically told her when she was on my dime she was not to get a tattoo. She tried to keep it hidden from me, but I saw it and flipped out. I'm more relaxed about it now, especially since I think it's really cute. She got one of Constatine the dinosaur, a book we had read her as a child. I guess after the dreadlocks and the eyebrow ring I was expecting worse.

sushi, what's the significance of a resistor?

I reminds me that I don't always have to go along. That I can resist the lure of an unneeded treat or resist the seductive wave of "well, everyone does it" or resist wrong or evil in the world or resist settling for the easy answers. It just focuses the mind.

Sikhs wear a bracelet on their right arms as a reminder of their obligation to do good deeds. Very similar to your idea, sushipup.

I didn't think it was very painful at all. It probably depends on where on your body you get it done.

At my job, any visible tats must be covered. Which is why mine is on my calf. And, if I wear shorts in the summer, I can fit a bandaid over it.

I wanted it where I could see it. And, I have to say, I look at it a lot!

The toddlers in my classroom like looking at it too.

No, tattoos aren't for everyone. But this one was right for me, and no one else has to see it. I don't mind seeing lots of tats on people.
