Hi, Patti -- Hope the PET results are completely blah! Did you hold STILL? Are you GLOWING in the dark tonight?

Tonight I am using the 'whatever' that's in my nearly empty fridge. Tomorrow night (New Year's Eve) we can either have two yummy TV dinners OR whatever we can eat of an added-to ("garbage") frozen pizza.

Aren't you happy you don't live here?

If we don't get cancelled or are delayed too long to make our connecting flight at DFW, we leave ORD at 8:10 a.m. New Year's Day.

My DD#2 and her BF made a stout (beer) chili, with quinoa and bulgur last night for their dinner. She always makes enough for leftovers, then realized they were going to be gone for the next 2 days;) Lucky me, they dropped it off for our dinner tonight. DH needs some meat, so he had me get him some smoked bratwurst for him to add to his (ick). I have some garlic/cheese focaccias I will toast to go with it;) Easy Peasy for me~~~she is a very good vegetarian cook so it should be yummy.

I cooked several things today for planned leftovers. I decided to have the leftover vegetables from last night to go with a piece of salmon I made today for my evening meal.

It's getting colder here in Ohio with each passing day. The weather quiz on my local channel was "How many months of 2013 did we have lower than normal temps?" The answer was 8.

Dreary day, so Diplomat Deli was my lunch date.

Cup of chili and cheddar grilled cheese on rye.

It did not get past 32 all day, top that off with no sun, it was a cold day.

I made cheese tortellini with ital. sausage for hubby & I had shells.

I am now waiting for my Dr to make a appt. with a Endocrinologist. Going to Dr's is getting very old. I thought 2014 would be a better health year, I can hope anyway.

Terri, good luck with the shopping. So many choices these days but knowing you (huh?), you'll come up with something your family will love!

Chisue, Stouffer's is my best friend these days! LOL! So I'd feel right at home. Sure hope your flight goes well. I was able to hold still. There really wasn't much to it at all. Thanks, I hope it's blah, too!

YogaLady, this is your lucky day. However, I'm with your DH. I'm such a carnivore--probably that good beef, pork and chickens straight from the barnyard growing up in Indiana :-)

Shirley, when I get my taste buds back and can eat a lot that I've already got in the freezer, I need to have a serious talk with you about cooking for one and how you manage to do it so well. I like cooking with the idea in mind of making different meals out of it. We are in for a cold front again, too. It was 75 yesterday and 70 today, but with the humidity, the air feels cooler.

Dinner will be grilled burgers...on cheddar kaisers(thank you Safeway Bakery) and of course crinkle fries...hot out of the peanut oil.

Nice slices of cheese, crisp green leaf lettuce and some chopped up mini heirloom tomatoes, wanted pickles, but no go.
Need to make my own pickles because Safeway does not carry a single one with out HFCS...grrr...and I love a pickle or two on a burger.

Made a loaf of Buttermilk Banana Bread and made a huge bowl of ganache.
A friend tried to add Kaluhua to some melted dark chips and seized it. she gave it to me last Sat..I lovingly whisked it for 30 min in warm cream and on and off the heat until I made probably 5-6 cups of ganache!

I am bringing her back some, frosting cup cakes with some more tomorrow and maybe making some truffles..

The idea of a cheese ball sounds good for tomorrow night. I haven't made one in years. Will just be Mike and I sitting around reading or playing on the computers.

Tonight we had homemade tomato soup from PW website. I have made it lots of times and it is soooo good. Also made grilled cheese sandwiches to go with. Sent some to my friend who just got out of the hospital yesterday and also some to my neighbor across the street. She is elderly and lives alone. She finds it hard to cook for just herself.

New Years we are going to have lamb. We usually have that for Christmas but decided on prime rib this year.

Terri: We're gonna have to cal you the "chocolate whisperer"!

(And it's just nuts how many things contain HFCS! I wouldn't have thought that pickles have them!)

Now that I avoid it..I can usually taste it..and the texture is different in sauces and ketchup too..

I did find a pickle relish..I think it's Farmer's that is made with sugar. It was not cheap..I think it was $3.69 for a small jar.

Well I was determined to make that chocolate useful. ;)

Now all it needs is a mouth and a spoon...lol..

Tony grilled deer steaks tonight and I fixed real baked potatoes and a salad...Oh that deer steak was tender and ohhhh soooo good!!!

I make a menu for 2 weeks at a time(just like we were still in the military) So I can tell you what we are having through the 9th of January...

I love the fact that my brother deer hunts and shares!! Gonna try deer meat in a meatloaf later this week...
