What's for Dinner, Saturday?

I went with hubby last nite when he played with the boys (he's a drummer). It was 4am when we got home. I don't do well with that late of a nite :)

We got up at 8 to get on with our day, and I'm still trying to play catch-up. Dinner is just basa fish filets and rice and some broccoli.
We might sack out by 8pm!

I went to bed at 11:00 (very early for me) and woke up at 3:00. Couldn't get back to sleep so played on the computer for 2 hours and then slept till 8:30. I'm falling asleep at the computer right now. I've been decorating today. Still have a few more things to do to finish up so we'll just have piazza tonight. We've been living off the freezer, left over turkey and meatloaf , soups and take out. One of these days I'll cook again.

I had a bit of a late lunch and had Mexican rice and of course ate too many of the oatmeal raisin cookies then too. So this evening I just had a little carton of red grapefruit and a half dozen of nuts. That is it for me. I do not like to eat much in the evening anyway. It is still chilly here in my neck of the woods with snow on the ground.

Holy smokes Raven!!! I get bronchitis EVERY time, I don't get just a cold. The coughing hurts like hell, and I get headaches from coughing, and my head feels like it's going to pop off. So I get to the doctor as soon as I can. You must be in total agony! I made the overnight breakfast casserole for myself. Hubby is not an egg-eater, but he thought it looked really good. He had some, and loved it. Egg isn't the main focus, the bread, sausage/ham is. He finished it off for dinner with some corn, and I had leftover ham, potatoes and corn.

Gadgets I am not sure where I read or heard what to do with it. It was either googled or from my brother who knows a lot about saving food. I think he learned it from my DM. Tonight I had the second piece that was supposed to be my DH until he told me he was going to be gone and it was just as delicious. I just used flour and Lawry seasoning salt and fried it. I think I have about 8 more pieces. Because we are Catholic I will try to use them during lent now on Friday's because we don't eat meat.

Our friend dropped in on his bicycle this afternoon. He was out on a couple of errands and when he went home he realized that he hadn't taken his house key with him. So he dropped around to put in some time till his neighbours came home who have a spare key. I had taken a baked ziti out of the freezer, and knew there would be enough for 3 of us, so we had that and salads. Some oatmeal-carrot muffins that I made today as well. Terri, I made the hamburger bun recipe that you posted, we had breakfast burgers. I halved the recipe and only got 4 buns out of it, so I'll definitely make a full recipe next time.

..Asking me for a recipe isn't usually something I can help with. But I'll try! And I know that I said orzo but I MEANT coucous! But it sure would work with orzo. Fix 1 cup coucous and 1/2 cup red quinoi according to the directions on their labels. Be sure to rinse the quinoa first, and I prefer the red....it tastes nuttier to me. I cook both of them in chicken broth. This salad can be made just with quinoi, but I didn't want to scare my guests. :-) Veggies....to equal about two cups or more : chopped green onions, red bell pepper, english cuke, chick peas (rinsed and drained), halved cherry tomatoes. Use your favorite vinaigrette . I made a lemon dressing with quarter cup fresh lemon juice, quarter cup olive oil, two cloves minced garlic, chopped fresh oregano, sugar, S & P to taste, and a splash of balsamic or other vineger. I didn't use all of the dressing. Add it to the couscous and quinoi while still warm, cover, and chill. When ready to serve, stir and taste to add more dressing if necessary. I added a bit of lemon zest on top for serving and fresh mint from the garden .

Good grief, jasdip, I can remember the days when I could be out and about til dawn, but sure couldn't do it now! Great music helps, though! :-)

It's going to be leftovers here....either tuna noodle casserole or the rice/chicken stuff we had last night. Either one will be good.

It is just cold weather for Houston 35 right now. I have been doing a little decorating put the outside tree up. And the small ones in the living room windows.

so I wanted something that would be warm going down. I made a pot of navy bean, sweet corn, and ham hock chowder. I hope it turns out good.

I had a piece of meatloaf and a salad tonight.

I was telling my daughter and her family how I went out one night with a friend. We got home to her house just 30 minutes before time to get up for work. I was 18 at the time. I could handle it then.

I wasn't going to leave the house today, as the roads are icy and it's been snowing lightly but constantly. BUT..... the cat was out of food, and you KNOW how they are when they want fed, and fed NOW! So, out I went.

The roads actually weren't too bad, but boy was it cold. I had to stop for gas too and just about froze.

Came home and made some chicken with sesame sauce over ramen noodles with peas in it.

Totally hit the spot

Don't think it got past 29F today..
We went and did our Costco shopping today...and then a trip to Safeway..for a few things then to Albertsons for hubbies meds...and deli chicken..

23F when we got in the car to head home for the night at 5:30...
7:13 pm right now..21F...

I just topped off my chicken breast and 3 jojo's with a Halo. :) I like them better than the Cuties...probably the exact same thing...but Halo's taste better.

5 degrees F here today. -11 with wind chill. Hubby made his "go to" when I don't feel like cooking - goulash. Ground beef, tomato sauce and noodles.
