Whew! Our Aging Westie's Home and OK

A few months ago Eliot developed a growth in one ear; the vet said it was a wart. It didn't bother him, and we let it go because she would have to give him a general to remove it. He will be 15 next month.

Last month the growth doubled in size and started bleeding, mostly at night. I put a beach towel across the foot of our bed, and we struggled with cleaning his ear every morning. We made an appointment for surgery.

DH took Eliot in this morning at 8:30. (El was quite put out that he didn't get to lick the bottoms of our cereal dishes!)

The vet removed the wart and cleaned his teeth -- only one incisor had to be pulled, first tooth he's lost. She called around ten, saying El woke quickly from the anesthesia and was fine. She said he asked to be picked up ASAP. (LOL)

We'll take him back in 10 days for removal of stitches. He's a tough 'little old man', but deaf and with limited vision. His special diet dog food order arrived today. There's nothing wrong with his sense of smell; he gave the box a good going over.

Our prior Westie lived to nearly 17 with the same handicaps, but this was a looming worry, and it is a relief to have it *over with*! Hope the wart doesn't regenerate.

The bill wasn't even as high as I'd anticipated -- $550.
