Let's see . . . I could start with a pair of sneakers from Walmart . . . (getting out my acrylic craft paints as we speak) . . .

I like the "wear it with" items listed below the shoes...for more over the top costs.....It would be lost on me, I think my daughter's holes in the knees of jeans makes her look poor...see how out of touch I am?

When I was growing up, my mother was a professional house painter/paper hanger. That's exactly what her shoes looked like.

I like Nimbleweed and prefer calling it Nimblewill. It's not really a weed but a grass--and a turfgrass at that (as opposed to a pasture grass). The Michigan State site at MSUturfweeds.net calls it a turfgrass and kind of compares it to bermudagrass: Nimblewill is a warm-season turfgrass that will infest cool-season turf. It has excellent winter hardiness which allows it to establish and compete. It will often stay dormant (white-to-tan) until Memorial Day and will go dormant soon after Labor Day. Nimble will has the growth habit of bermudagrass but is hairless and somewhat more upright. ( http://www.msuturfweeds.net/details/_/nimblewill_44/ I have some Nimblewill in my backyard near where there used to be 3 trees (now 2 trees after I removed one last year that was in a bad spot). Nimblewill looks kind of like improved Bermudagrass but without the ghastly seedheads. The seedheads of Nimblewill look more like a single long spike that's kind of feathery. If it weren't for the difference in seedheads you could mistake Nimblewill for improved Bermuda. Like I said, I let Nimblewill grow in my backyard near the tree area all it wants, and it spreads fast. It beats having true weeds like plantains and dandelions occupying the space. The rhizomes and stolons of Nimblewill are thinner and more elegant than Bermudagrass rhizomes and stolons. Unlike Bermuda, Nimblewill can tolerate shade. From NCSU: "Nimblewill has very slender, thin leaves, which can be confused with bermudagrass." Like Bermuda, Nimblewill has both stolons and rhizomes but thinner, finer. Since you typically only have 2 people, I would not go any larger than a 2 cuft softener as you would run the risk of channeling. At the TDS of your water, you will want to regen with 8 lb salt per cuft of resin to keep hardness bleed to a minimum. That will place you at 10 days between regens with 2 people and 4-5 days with 4-5 people. High quality American or German made resin. This will provide a tight size distribution for optimal flow within the resin Since you have WELL WATER: 8% crosslinked resin. Top basket. This serves two purposes. It sets up a proper water distribution during normal operation and prevents resin loss during backwash. Gravel underbed. The gravel underbed is there to set up proper flow patterns, improve backwash and prevent channeling. Many softener sales companies like to leave this out or sell softeners with a vortex system instead. Vortex systems weigh less than gravel so they cost less to ship. In addition, they are a more expensive item that adds profit for the softener salesperson, but provides no additional benefit to the homeowner . It simply adds another piece of equipment that can break. Fleck or Clack valves. These set the industry standard. Be aware that you will not be able to purchase Clack valves online. This is not a problem if you purchase locally. Noryl bypass. Most softeners are available with either Noryl or stainless bypass valves. Both are good valves, but the noryl tends to be more reliable when not used for long periods of time. Install the softener with a three-valve bypass. This will make it so much easier if you ever need to remove the softener for repairs or wish to take it with you when you move. Use full-port, quarter-turn valves. I, too, think I might remove one of the end sections and perhaps add a small storage cabinet, then do something like acm shows above. Or, if you have room for chairs facing the window, I'd get a table to fill the space as it is and simply not use the spaces that are difficult to use for seating (except maybe for parties). The kids on one end, the adults in the chairs perhaps? You also could look into a custom table made so part of it swivels out to let folks into the back seats. arhaus has a nice selection of refractory tables, which extend by the leaves sliding out from the ends. Not sure if that might be a solution or not. A little cumbersome maybe, but it could work:

I would never deliberately have a gap in the vanity or any counter. What for. Having fillers would be a relatively easy fix or do custom and then they would be exactly what you want. When I remodeled I did custom cabinets for baths and kitchen from a local cabinet maker and the cost was about what I would have paid for semi-custom or even less considering I did significant upgrades - designed my doors; had special interior features to add functionality etc; used relatively expensive quarter sawn white oak

That price isn't so bad when you consider that the laces are also somewhat spattered. The rich have to have something on which to squander their money.

Those look like the shoes I used to wear when we did painting at our house. Wow, I guess I had a pair of artistic shoes and didn't even know it! And to think that I didn't wear mine in public because they looked like I'd been painting in them. LOL!

I have a couple pair that look very much like that. One pair is leather, the other pair is canvas, and has a hole in each one by the big toe. They have been my painting shoes for years now, so all the spatters came from a lot of hard work. No, I wouldnt wear them out in public, in fact, my kids threaten to throw them away, so when they come to visit, I make sure they are hidden. :-)

Chisue, I think 'poor little rich boy look'. I don't see those offered in their women's choices, we would be shopping for our SO's and my own isn't quite that contemporary.

Cat, you said wearing out in public. I was mad at DH last night (and myself). We'd been busy, about 7 he suggested Mexican food and I dashed back to the bedroom put on a clean shirt and a little makeup. Dinner was good. Much later, when I started to get ready for bed, I realized I was still wearing the garden shoes I'd slipped into to encourage a couple of deer to leave earlier. Ancient Danskos, scuffed, scarred, a few glops of paint and barely presentable enough for the garden. Comfortable, I'd forgotten I even had them on and wore them to the restaurant, DH didn't notice either. I've found myself wearing them halfway through grocery shopping a couple of times, never out in the evening.

maybe chi saw the leather pouch and mistook it for a purse, morz. I know I sure thought "girl". Oops! My bias is showing. I don't typically don't think that way, but I sure did this time!

morz8 I did do that one time a few years ago. We were going into the mall when I noticed, I had forgotten to change my shoes. First stop was Payless, to buy something presentable. LOL

That's pretty funny!

I've been painting while wearing an old pair of New Balance sneakers....they are splattered and I thought ruined...ha ha

If you click on a the pictures below the picture you can actually see how they look when someone is wearing them. Wow!

Kidding aside, I don't know that the rich would buy them either. These look like some of the freebies given to celebrities so they will promote a product. They wouldn't be bad for a one time 'unique' look. I can't think of anyone who would actually spend money for them.

Well, I bet you could find cuter shoes at WalMart with which to start!

Those look like "old lady, orthopedic shoes" and I'm almost 65! I ain't wearin' them! LOL (never mind that I'm not about to pay for them, either!)

I really like classic low-top sneakers! They go with all kinds of casual clothes and are much less clunky than the typical athletic shoe. I have canvas and leathers, including a pair red suede low tops, lol.
