We were rushing to complete moving out and moving into a new home when the Covid hit, which was quite stressful. We had already moved things for the previous two weeks and I had already started organizing some of the most important rooms such as the kitchen (not very large and with drawers that were not standard sizes for drawer separators, which made everything a bit of a headache). We moved in and realized we did not have a single thing in the fridge or freezer and not much in the pantry, so we had three large grocery runs hoping we would not catch the Covid that second week of March and we finished getting anything else we would need and running any errands by mid-March. Since then we have hardly left the house, except to pick up a prescription and when my husband had to work some shifts that could not be done at home. So the first order of business for me was to continue unpacking and getting the house settled in, learning how to order groceries and other things we needed online, trying to make the new house feel like a home. That took some time. It has been a little over three months but it does feel like home now. What I appreciate about it is that I took great care to try to make it organized from the beginning. It is not cluttered and what we have brought into the house and unpacked all has its place. Bit by bit we are still unpacking and settling in. In a new house we were able to focus on what was important to us to make a harmonious home. The most important things to me were to have the master bedroom be a soothing place where you could feel relaxed, no clutter, and the same for the master closet - it is a small one - but it is organized and stays that way. The bath is the same way. The second thing that was important was that the kitchen was organized so that cooking was simplified. We don’t have much counter space but all the drawers are organized by function and with a cooktop and wall oven finally I had an easy place to store pots and pans in large drawers below the cooktop. I had spent quite a bit of time trying to get the drawers organized and it was worth the time to do it. We have held off putting much on the walls and want to be deliberate in what we decide. The quarantine (I am extremely high-risk and will be quarantining for a long time) required us to put off some things we had wanted to do such as address changes to some of the ceiling lights and to fix up the back yard so that we could use it, so those will just have to wait. It is just so nice to be in a place that is not cluttered and is functional, with enough windows for a good amount of natural light, and comfortable. Every day I am so very thankful for that.

Reminds me of several kitchens I have done in an older 1940s neighborhood (Cape Cod Homes). You can certainly do IKEA, but the line is limited. I think you cann design a better kitchen if it's framed. In the small kitchens that I have done in the Cape Cod neighborhood, we did "Framed cabinets" with a 36x36 corner sink.....18" dishwasher, 30" cooktop with an undercounter single oven. You could also do a free standing range....which is what one client chose to do. Here are a few from that neighborhood. These kitchens are all about 8x9 with a window and a dining room door and a door with a step down to basement door and garage door. This was a flip house....removed wall to dining room. This was done 21 years ago. Here is an IKEA kitchen in the same neighborhood. It's beautiful too....but no dishwasher and range area has no countertop space.

Great room & gorgeous floors! I’m on the NO don’t paint brick team. I’m wondering about the style of your home & thinking the brick is an integral part of it so I vote keep it. The granite caps / tops might have been an update though. I do agree change out the drapes to a much lighter color - match walls which look like a good shade for the brick. I would like the crown & base to be not such a bright white - maybe think about that. The rug is pretty & too bad it’s not a tad bigger. I think the rule is all seating legs either on or off the rug. I’d try pulling rug out into room farther & get all legs off it just to make rug more visible. Side table & lamps needed. I’m guessing those sofas are recliners so no coffee table will work? Swivel chairs would be great with a side table & lamp between. I’d pick fabric for the chairs whicheve style you get - a fabric with texture rather than pattern & pull a blue from rug for color. Don’t match colors of sofas as the contrast adds interest.I like the size & placement of the art on wall but it would be nice if the images were stronger so the art stood out a bit. Would one of them fit on left side of mantel? Or, in place of the huge clock? A console table or shelving / book case would be nice in the space under the clock - it would balance the TV & unit on other side, For the short term, I think replacing drape panels will provide the fastest & most impactful update.

black. Would basically resemble this shot. see the black support in the corner? Make sure to pick the right shade for your lighting. I have used Wrought Iron inside and out. Not listed above is Behr-Beluga. it's a very nice, rich black. have used it on my wall at home. Also, new window treatments please. Those white ones do nothing for your space. if you like that inset style, try something like this (Piroette or Silouette) in a darker shade or some dark bamboo shades cellular blinds in a black licorice I was trying to find some brick lofts w/black to show you how it looks. Look at the windows, the decor and on a few of them, the art and the industrial style book shelves. don't forget some sort of wood accents. either w/furntiure, beams, shelving. black looks so good w/the wood tried to find pics w/black support beams or black staircases w/the brick These two are the same loft. so pretty tried to photoshop that window and drape, on to yours w/badly done black column! Here's that book shelf. love this. and super easy to DIY looks like this close up Art, Next to the staircase you could try some black and white art w/white frames, or black frames And, love the idea of painting the ceiling black and doing some type of wood, like these beams. (notice the dark blinds on this one too, and the industrial book shelf)
